Not a fan of rebooting this series, buuuuuuut...

Chris Pratt would be an outstanding choice.
Yeah, no one can top Harrison Ford and I see no need to continue the series without Ford but since Disney is going to make another Indiana Jones no matter what and given that every franchise MUST have a movie star, Pratt is about as good of a choice as exists. He's charming, he's funny, he can get into shape when needed.

I agree that if it IS going to happen, Pratt would probably be excellent. My bellyaching was pointed at the idea of a reboot. ENOUGH already!!!! Leave Indy alone.

Nothing against Pratt, but Indiana Jones? REALLY?? Is nothing sacred? Is there ANY originality left in the movie industry? Apparently not.

It's their official long-awaited affirmation after six years that they've finally given up on Mutt Williams.

(With a little "Mix eye of newt and toe of frog to make Guardians happen again" alchemic experiments in the mix.)

It's said that sequel concepts "get passed around like a game of hot-potato, and whoever's left holding it at the end has to do the reboot instead." :)

I agree that there isn't really a "need" to reboot Indiana Jones, but the reality is that Disney bought Lucasfilm with the intention of making more of those movies (Star Wars and Indy), so it shouldn't be a surprise that they plan on a new Indy series.

With Star Wars you have a "universe" and multiple characters (old and new) that you can tell more stories with. But with Indy, it's pretty much gotta be "Indy", so they don't really have another option than rebooting with a young star.

If they're doing it, Pratt would be a great choice.

Yeah, but then Indy's going to be fighting Nazis in the 30's & 40's while karaoke-ing his Ultimate Neat record of Andrews Sisters hits. ("Drinking rum and Co-caaa cola...") ;)

Chris Pratt would be perfect if they decided to reboot National Treasure.

Not so much Indy.

IMHO

Is ... is that really a possibility?

I'm hoping for a Mummy reboot reboot before we get to National Treasure.

He'd be great. Better choice than Bradley Cooper, who could also be good (and has been mentioned).

Chris Pratt, while immensely likable, lacks the intense edge and gravitas Harrison Ford brought to Indy in his prime. He's too naturally goofy. But then again, I don't really know anyone with that kind of presence headlining movies right now (except, perhaps, Fassbender), and Pratt might actually surprise us and pull it off (we'll see how he handles his Jurassic World role).

Indy is a very tough role to pull off. You have to be both believably bookish and a dashing adventure hero while at the same time sort of an everyman. You have to be reserved, while also being a man of action.

Chris Pratt could pull off the action hero, he could pull of the self-deprecation, and he's even a decent dramatic actor. But he just doesn't have the right mix of intangibles that the role needs.

I was thinking the same thing about Jurassic World. I could be wrong but I would think that people at Disney & LFL have seen Jurassic World (in some form) if they're actually looking at turning Indiana Jones over to him.

I think the only sacred thing left is rebooting shows with a real person's name in the title. It won't be long until some one tries to reboot "The Andy Griffith Show" or "Seinfeld".

Oh wait, they did that with "The Three Stooges" and "Laurel and Hardy".

I agree. Can't a new character be created anymore? I'm watching less and less new stuff.

I wouldn't mind if Indy is recast for new films, 1) I don't have to watch or like them and 2) nothing can take away my love for the original 3 films. I'd like to see the new Indy's adventures set in a different decade, leave the 30's to Ford's Indy. Yes, I know KOTCS is set in the 50s but I have mixed feelings on that one.
