This isn't a big deal but I am curious about it...

On various BD titles that I have purchased, the latest being Big Bang Theory S7, the card inside the package with the UV code seems to be pushing you to redeem the code through Flixster. To redeem the code, the first step according to the instructions is to "Go to flixster.com/getUV".

However, when I first came across this I thought to try and redeem the code directly through the UV's site and found it worked fine giving me the option to go through Vudu of Flixster. Yeah me (I use Vudu).

So I assume this is just Warner Brothers pushing their own property, Flixster, correct?

Does anyone know if I had gone through the Flixster link according to their instructions, would it have given me the option to use Vudu or Flixster like UV's site or would it have just activated through Flixster?

You can connect your libraries, so it will work on Vudu anyway, but I have run across codes that would only activate on flixster.

And my personal experience with flixster is terrible btw. Rarely can get it to load and have NEVER successfully played a video on flixster.

Yes, just like Vudu is telling you about the glories of D2D updating your hard disks by taking them to Wal-Mart.

I didn't know Flixster was connected with Warner--it was such a low-quality app in the first place, I thought it was just another struggling wannabe who got in the game too early--but yes, it would explain why Warner wants us to think it's the end-all of streaming.

Flixster is useless as movie player without a TV app. The only thing it's good for is to redeem codes that can't be redeemed anywhere else (like the Batman TV show...at first anyway, don't know about now).

Flixter also has a more accurate Disc to Digital interface. There are so many DVD's that I've been able to convert to HD using Flixter that can't be done on Vudu.

You can now do D2D from your own computer.

Can you get them for half price at Flixster like you can for VUDU? I've been having problems converting any discs using VUDU. It worked a few times and I converted a bunch, but now all I get are error messages. I'll have to check out Flixster.

Not with my Blu-rays, I can't (especially on a Mac without a disk drive), and I'm that long line still waiting for a PS3 app.

That's, er, not why they keep mentioning Wal-Mart, anyway.

When I tried it (Several months back) it worked. Maybe it changed for the worse.

You mean the 10 for $2.50 deal for HDX? No. It's 5 dollars for HD (1080p) at Flixster. Same as Vudu's regular price for HDX. No special deals. I was able to use Flixster to acquire Gorilla at Large (1954), Flying Down to Rio (1933), and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958) in HD (1080p) through D2D when Vudu's D2D app wouldn't work. All titles showed up on Vudu through Ultraviolet without any issues.

The other problem with Flixster is the limited availability of HD titles. Most of the titles are SD only. So even though their D2D app recognizes the discs, they don't have many HD options available for purchase. So basically I'm stuck between Vudu for it's wide selection of HD titles/pricing, and Flixster with it's superior D2D app. I wish Vudu would just buy/license Flixster's D2D app and save me the headache.

So I just downloaded the most recent version of the flixster app. I figured I would check the D2D against some movies I couldn't convert with Vudu.

And here we go again, it's been 10 minutes and it still hasn't finished loading my library. It's not a big library and only about 10 movies are new to flixster. This illustrates what I said about Flixster. It just doesn't work.
