As many of you are aware, Amazon previously raised the yearly Prime subscription to $100 per year.

Load of shit...

Just went to purchase the year at $72...

Not eligible since I started a free trial...3 weeks ago.

And...today, you are specifically not allowed to cancel free trials.

Bull. Shit. On. Amazon's. End.

Could you sign up using an alternate email address and credit card? And for the mailing address use your employer. You can always go back and change it a week later.

Sign up under an alternate email then "invite" your current account as a household member after the trial is up. Or see if a friend (or 2 or 3) wants to split it and have them sign up. That's what I did so we each paid $36.

On the other hand - how is ordering something today and getting it Wednesday considered 2 Day Shipping!?

You would think that Amazon would allow first time free trial users(have no idea if they check people...apparently do?) to sign up under this plan...

But that would be too smart.

(Regarding signing under a new email. I already subscribe to several products; DE razor blades, water filters, some food stuffs. So, again, you'd think they'd parlay it to first time free trial users)

I have been disappointed with Amazon the last couple of years, especially at holiday times. Amazon used to be a price leader and price setter but lately all they do is wait for Best Buy to set/drop their price and then follow. I am an Elite Member at Best Buy which means I get free shipping and reward points to get free items or prices lowered on items. Amazon's only free shipping program is to spend more than $35 and they have no rewards program of any kind. I even get free shipping on almost everything on eBay and get eBay bonus dollars. I have hundreds if not thousands of blur rays/dvds in my personal library and hundreds in my Vudu library so the only thing of any value to me in Prime is the shipping. Tell me again why I should want to pay for shipping on Amazon when I can get free shipping at Best Buy for being an Elite Member, at Target for being a Red Card Member, on most items on eBay, and can walk into any Walmart and pick up my order for free.

P.S.: I almost forgot. You can buy an Overstock membership for $4.99 when it is on sale, you can buy multiples as well. A Big O membership includes a year of free shipping. If you are not familiar with Overstock they often times have New Old Stock movies at very reasonable prices.

It's two business days. When you order on Saturday the package is shipped on Monday and scheduled for delivery two days later.

I get that but still...

The ironic thing is Amazon shipped what I ordered this morning so clearly for them Saturday IS a business day

Purchase it as a "Gift," choose your email and delivery date for sometime in the future (?? next week),
cancel your Trial Monday, sign up for Full Prime once your Gift is delivered.

Or use alternate email -- ?? if you need a different address or not especially once the trial is over/cancelled

I've been with Amazon Prime from the beginning. I sent them a note about just having renewed in October for $99, and not liking the $72 offer today. They credited back my credit card for $27!

Signed up.
Found the show I wanted to watch with Prime isn't on Prime.
Canceled and got refund ten minutes later.
Ah well. Maybe next year :)
