Same here...at under $10/movie, this purchase is a no-brainer, even with the double-dip titles... :P

$16/movie if, like me, you already have two of them. $16.00 is still quite a bit less than I regularly pay for boutique label discs so I'm not complaining. I'm giving a sigh of relief!

I can't tell you the number of times I've almost pulled the trigger on Guys and Dolls and Ocean's 11 but always held off thinking there would be a Sinatra set at some point. So, this boxset is an instant purchase for me.

I've already got "Guys & Dolls" and am not terribly interested in "Ocean's 11", so I'm taking the same approach I took with the MGM Musicals set - I'm pre-ordering both the box set and the three individual titles I want (Anchors, On the Town, Robin - currently $13.99 each) and will watch the prices.

In the case of the MGM Musicals releases, it looks like it's going to be cheaper to keep the order for the full set of four films than to buy the two titles individual titles I was mainly interested in (Kate & Bandwagon). I hope that ends up being the case with the Sinatra set as well.

Of the group, I think you might enjoy On the Town the best. It is, IMO, one of the best musicals ever made.

+1

I had used the HTF links to pre-order Anchors Aweigh and On the Town. Then I looked at the information in this thread...including the bonus features included in the set. So, I have pre-ordered that, too.

While I'd rather pay half for the two movies I really want, the special features on the set sound pretty darn good. Of course, they may be spread across the single releases, too.

I hope more specific information on the releases is available before May 5th hits.

I already own Guys & Dolls and am not interested as much in Robin and Oceans 11.

Sigh. Decisions, decisions.

Mike, Seems as though we have been on the same wavelength lately. :)

I did the exact same thing as you described in your post above ordering through the HTF links. Just waiting for more info. before I make a final decision.

Just a heads-up for UK Sinatra fans. BBC2 are showing None But The Brave in HD tomorrow afternoon. I think it's bound to turn up in a second box later this year.

Perhaps Warner Bros. is planning a BING CROSBY or GRACE KELLY set, either of which could include HIGH SOCIETY and THE COUNTRY GIRL (assuming this Paramount title is with WB right now). I know that HD masters exist for both.

Anchors Aweigh

NEWLY REMASTERED! Gene Kellys live-action fancy footwork with animated Jerry (of Tom and Jerry) remains a milestone of movie fantasy. Frank Sinatra and Kathryn Grayson also headline this wartime tale of two sailors on leave in Hollywood. Sinatras performance of I Fall in Love Too Easily, the exuberant We Hate to Leave with Kelly, and other highlights helped Anchors Aweigh weigh in with an Academy Award® for Best Music (Scoring of a Musical Picture), plus four more Oscar® nominations[ii], including Best Picture and Best Actor for Kelly.

On the Town

NEWLY REMASTERED! New York, New York, its a wonderful town especially when sailors Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin have a 24-hour shore leave to see the sightsand when those sights include Ann Miller, Betty Garrett and Vera-Ellen.

And when brilliant location and studio production numbers are blended, it could be as here ebullient, up-and-at-em perfection. The Bronx is up and the Batterys down, but no one can be down after going On the Town.
