I’m training to run a half marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), to raise life-saving funds to help those fighting blood cancers through an organization called Team in Training (TNT). I will be running in San Diego on May 31st.

The money raised by TNT participants has enabled LLS to fund millions of dollars of research to help advance new treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and provide critical education and support to cancer patients and their families.

Nearly 50% of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA during the past decade were for blood cancers. And they are helping other patients as well. Five of those drugs have been approved for patients with solid tumors and others are being tested for other indications.

Survival rates for children with leukemia have improved from 3% 40 years ago to 90% today; Hodgkin lymphoma patient survival rates have more than doubled to 88% since the 1960s. And the survival rate for myeloma patients tripled in past decade.

Please help! You can donate to my event at: http://pages.teamintraining.org/cpa/rnr15/dave

Thanks.

My mother worked for years in NICU at Methodist(Indianapolis). Even back before "the mergers", Riley and Methodist swapped personnel on a routine basis.

The cancer care improvement in 40 years is more than impressive.

OK Boys and Girls,

My race is a month away and there is still time to donate. Your donation will be put to good use. It not only helps find a cure, it provides support for patients and families. Every dollar counts.

Stop by my fundraising page and donate today. Do it now before the big summer movies come out and take all of your funds. :D :3dglasses:

If you haven't heard the story about Harriet Thompson, check it out (it is everywhere). She is 92 and set a record for the oldest person to ever finish a marathon. I ran into her at the airport and had picture taken. Turns out she was originally from the town next to mine and still has relatives in the area (including a daughter). Such a small word we live in.

Major congratulations, David!

Not just for supporting your family...not just for helping raise money for a great cause...but also for finishing a half-marathon!!! And in respectable time, too.

I am just getting back into some running after a year-and-a-half layoff due to some major health concerns of my own. And I am at the very bottom of a very large mountain looking up. Happy that I can push out a couple of miles in a half-hour. I had just completed my first 5k before my health went south and I was (am) looking forward to doing some more of those and eventually stretching things out. Being in good health and in good shape are two things that I will never again take for granted.

Good for you!
