Wall-mounting rear-ported speakers? Plug the port? (1 Viewer)

My L/R speakers are Axiom M22's http://www.axiomaudio.com/m22-bookshelf-speakers They are rear-ported. They have the ability to be wall-mounted using a bracket Axiom sells, which puts the rear of the speaker/port 2" from the wall. Axiom sells custom port plugs for the oddly-shaped (but effective) ports on their speakers.

The question is: Should I plug the ports if I'm wall-mounting them? I should add that of course, I have a sub and would most probably manually set the crossover to 80Hz or possibly 90Hz. With the ports open I would get crazy boundary reinforcement in the upper bass range. Audessey would take care of this, I'm sure, but the severe cuts in that freq range might really make things sound weird.

The easy answer is "Do it and see how it sounds." I should also add that the speakers aren't mounted yet because the room doesn't exist yet either. :) I'm planning for a few months down the road...trying to get things figured out in advance.

Thanks for your help.

My Yamaha ns-333 bookshelf speakers are mounted on wall mount brackets that have the speakers about 4 inches out from the wall.

They are also ported, but I don't notice anything affecting their sound whatsoever. On the other hand, how much sound really goes to rear surrounds anyway?
