Hi all,

Noob here.... but not new to A/V stuff.

I just picked up a Sony STR-DH550. I have the lowest-end Motorola cable box from Comcast and it only has R/W/Y cable connection. I have the cable connected to the Sat/CATV input connections on the receiver (red/white/yellow)

I have no problem with the red/white outputting audio when selecting Sat/CATV on the receiver, however there is no video. I can of course connect the yellow video to the TV and change the TV input from HDMI-1 to Video-1, but I was hoping this receiver would convert from coaxial to HDMI. Is that not possible?

Thanks,

Andy

Thanks guys, is the 850 is lowest model that will up-convert the composite? I very rarely watch cable TV (basic cable thrown in with cable internet) but it would be great to avoid switching inputs if possible. 99% of the time I am using the PS3 with netflix or other streaming so this isn't a severe issue. I also only have a 5.1 system so I wasn't really looking at the 7.2 receivers.

Thanks for the advice!

Yep. Least expensive Sony that has it. The Onkyo 636(535 might) has it as well.

In Denon, not sure where it starts.

The feature is called HDMI upconversion.
