For those of you that bothered to look at this preorder announcement....

I am happy you did. I hope you followed up and are reading what I am

about to post...

You know, often, it's upcoming title announcements of "small films" like

these, which I post to the forum, and are often overlooked.

This is one film that I highly advise not be.

Do a little investigating on your own. Read some reviews. Hope that

the price of this Blu-ray drops to about $20 by release date, then don't

hesitate for a second to purchase it.

You can thank me soon thereafter.

You won't regret this blind purchase.

The price of the Blu-ray will come down to $20 by release date,

I am certain. It hasn't even been officially announced.

I put in my pre-order last night when I looked at the Amazon page and saw J.K. Simmons was in the cast...one of the best character actors around and always good in anything he's done.

Several critics (and members on other forums) have put 'Whiplash' at the top of their Best films of 2014 lists. That, combined with Ron's comments, made the film a must-see and I saw it yesterday.

It is definitely a good film. But not one I'd put at the top of my Best films of 2014 list. In fact, it wouldn't rate in my top 10.

The Booth Bijou gives 'Whiplash' 3.5 out of 5 stars. I found it an interesting and intriguing film to watch, but I wouldn't exactly call it highly entertaining.

YMMV

I just saw it tonight... RIVITING. JK Simmons was amazing. AMAZING.

I will be buying it because it is a nominee for best picture, but it really is a great movie.

So happy to see this film get nominated for Best Picture with an

additional Best Actor nomination for J.K. Simmons.

I don't expect either to win, but at least there will be quite a bit

of promotional footage shown at the awards to attract interest to

this film.

I believe that JK Simmons is the current front runner for Best Supporting Actor.

A synopsis

Andrew Neyman is an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. Plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats. Terence Fletcher, an instructor equally known for his teaching talents as for his terrifying methods, leads the top jazz ensemble in the school. Fletcher discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into his band, forever changing the young man's life. Andrew's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher continues to push him to the brink of both his ability-and his sanity.
