I wish Warner Bros would remaster the original on Blu -- the one now available looks pretty ropey.

Plus, I would love to see it in a widescreen aspect ratio instead of the 1.78 currently available. I believe there's some debate over what the OAR was or should be, but whenever TCM runs it widescreen it looks a hell of a lot better to me (aspect-ratio-wise) than the BD.

The BD is correct. It was shot spherically at 1.75:1. The incorrect wider ratio is to mimic the cropped 70mm blowup that was released.
