I will be purchasing a pair of Energy tower speakers (probably the CF-30). I am searching for a receiver to drive these speakers. A home theater system (5.1 or 7.1) is not in my future. My wife and I listen to music 90% of the time and the other 10% will be television or the occasional movie. I am looking for a receiver to get the most out of the Energy towers. I would also like internet capability and USB ports to connect my TV and PS3. Can anyone out there reccommend a 2 channel or even 5 channel receiver with a budget of $500 or less? Too many options and can't seem to decide on the right one for me.

Thank you!!

Any decent receiver will drive those speakers (8 ohm, 90 db sensitivity), so if you didn't say "network" you could be down in the $200 range. I like the network built in to the receiver too, but in a stereo receiver it's going to limit your choices, and it's easy to move the networking to other components (the BR/DVD or a dedicated media box like the Roku/Fire. You could also go with a 5.1 and turn off the other channels.

In any case, the best two in my opinion that meet your specs are these (Barring a deal/sale, I'd go with the Yamaha):
