But this might look like its right up my alley is that 9 array screen channels? Not sure what I can make out with front channels. The circle of life surrounds seems typically close to the Auro 11.1 3d layout.

Not sure if 3rd one centre is behind a transparent screen.

Well I'll sit by and watch the 3d sound format war fight each other in the trenches for the next 2 or 3 years I'm not in hurry for a new AVR. I'm happy with diy overhead and below surround in my home THX cinema for now.

Dolby atmos has been bit of blunder in my books with very little content to show for itself in the past few months. I bet the studios will be backing dtsX not that I'm fan of dtsHDMA but what little choice does some consumers get when nearly all content on bluray is dtsHDMA encoded.

Well I guess Dolby atmos needs to pull its shocks up now and get with supporting and seeing their films/content is released by studios by the bucket load, but I bet there won't be even near close to 50 atmos releases on bluray by July 2015. January 2015 starts in few hours and July is only 6 months away.

So I wonder about what films will be mixed in dtsX or remixed from atmos? to get re-mixed down dtsX to sell the format and for dtsHDMA to yet once again monopolize the sound format market.

I'll watch this and save up and see which format is left standing in few years, there's still plenty of great cool Dolby 5.1 mixes about in the tens thousands :) that I not listened to yet and about hundreds of 7.1 and very little home atmos.

Well that's easy to set up those surrounds.

I'm waiting to upgrade a 7 year old receiver in a secondary system until I can get something that will have both major surround formats in it and if the announcements about things are made by March, I'll get in-ceiling surrounds in the main system which has an attic above it and wait a little longer for that.

Dolby Atmos and DTS-X are both on my list and something I am putting in my home theater upgrade plan. The first thing I want to get is a UHD Bluray player then on to a new receiver to replace my current Pioneer Elite SC-05. Right now I am leaning towards a Marantz or a Denon to replace that Pioneer.

I would love to know why we see little to nothing about what theaters have Atmos or DTS-X installed? I would love to know what theaters have ether one and what movies are being played in the new immersive audio formats. If they want to get consumers interested in ether format it starts with the theater experience IMHO. And when I say that I mean concerning consumers because many of us here are more aware of what these formats are then the general public.

Both Dolby Atmos and DTS-X are object based formats that use meta data and Auro 3D is channel based if I am not mistaken. And from a DTS interview I watched I could swear that DTS said that if you already have your speakers set up for Atmos that DTS-X would adapt to that configuration. I have the impression that at least Atmos and X are very flexible and I do not see Auro being very flexible at least not to the extent that the other two are. And a larger question might be what studios will even offer a Auro audio track? Or will Auro tracks be more likely to be used in Europe and maybe Asia? Depending on how much they want for the Auro upgrade I might get it just to have it. But since I will be getting a new up to date receiver Atmos and X are a must for me even if both formats flop or end up being a super nitch format!

Remains to be seen what will be in Auro 3D - http://www.auro-3d.com/consumer/movies/

In the one small bedroom when I get a receiver, I'll be looking for a new Oppo (have a 103D in there now and will rotate it to the master bedroom likely and perhaps the BDP-93 in there to the bonus/guest room) when they get released. I have space for a 50 inch TV (only sit 7.5 feet away) and if a TV in another room goes (I have an 11-12 year old 42 inch Vizio in the next room that is for a 2-channel system and just gets used for the music server as a monitor upon turn on before I cover the screen and select music with my phone or tablet) and will consider a modestly priced 4K set too.

With Dolby Atmos and DTS-X I honestly wonder if Auro 3D will have many releases in Blu-ray or UHD Blu-ray? Or will anyone with an Auro 3D set up have to get releases from Europe if Auro 3D releases are focused there? Will the market even accept three surround sound formats? I honestly do not see Auro 3D being accepted by the average consumer especially since it is a channel based format. At least both Atmos and X are object based and can be scaled to the system that the consumer has. Atmos only has a handful of blu-ray releases and I am hoping that DTS is able to get more titles out in there DTS:X format using there MDA file format. Am waiting for the new receiver models to be released with DTS:X!
