2x Infinity InterLude IL40s
2x Infinity InterLude IL10s
1x Infinity InterLude IL25C

Is this a good deal?

How many years since they released? Like 1999 right? 15 years..

If they've been blasted a lot, could they potentially be damaged internally?

Also, I know the IL25C is considered far below the IL36C in terms of center channel sound quality that one of the bookshelfs has a good dent in the top right corner so it could have been dropped.

The seller wants $700 for them shipped?

In any case, would anyone shell out $700 for them? I could really use some opinions on this! My gut is telling me to spend the extra grand and slowly build up the new Infinity Reference series instead?

$700 shipped is pretty good. Considering $200 is the likely shipping amount. If these were Intermezzo, they'd be twice this much. These are much better than Beta. Primus isn't even in the same league.

Yeah the Beta was supposedly supposed to replace the InterLude series right? I looked at Betas and Alphas and just going by the look of the build quality, they don't look as well constructed. I have, however, never listened to either.

This guy is being pretty awesome too. He offered me a full refund including paid return shipping if I'm not satisfied. He must have some kind of deal with UPS. That's a lot of shipping cost if I don't like them.

I think Infinity went "bargain end" of Harman when the IL was cancelled. IL, sorta, replaced the Crescendo when Infinity canned the EMIT. Nobody thinks Crescendo was a "bargain basement" speaker(I have a theatre of Crescendo now).

I've never heard of that speaker.. Google time hehe.

I just sent the guy $700 for it. He's going to ship each speaker in its own separate box which makes me feel more comfortable too.

If I don't like the center channel, I'll keep an eye out for the IL36C and sell the IL25C.

I bought a pair of IL 50's and an IL36c off CL a couple of years ago ($350 for both). The top end of the 50's sounded just like the Beta 20's imo. Didn't care for the IL36c. I couldn't sell the 50's for any where near what I paid for them so I parted them out for a bit more. Sold the IL36c last month (with cosmetic damage) for more then it was worth (yea for me).

The drivers and tweeters appear similar/identicle to me in the IL and Beta lines. The tweeters in the 50's and 60's have cooling fins. But the cabinet was a bit thicker in the IL's. The crossovers were re-designed for the Beta series. The maple veneer on the IL's felt like cheap shelf paper but it was attractive from a distance. The cherry Beta's have a very nice look and feel, offset by the bright silver accents and grill. They look great without the grills on, which are metal. Nice if you have kids running around. The ebony Beta's are very pedestrian in appearance.

In the IL line, the 40's and 60's are thought to be the real stars, but I've never owned either of those. The 40's are probably the the ones to get (yea for you!) because the amps in the 50's and 60's have been know to fail. There's been a pair of IL 30's on my CL ($125/pr) for a few weeks now. IL 10's go for $95-$125/pr. The 36c for $110-$175.

The Beta 20 is one of my favorite all-time speakers in value/performance. Much, much better then the Primus 160's and not to far off from the Paradigm Studio 20's V2 or Revel M12's. The IL 40's should be even better. I'd love to pick up a pair of 40's but have way too much stuff on hand so maybe later on. I don't know what to tell you about a center channel. My guess is the 25 will have a hard time keeping up with the 40's and IL36c's seem to hold their value pretty well.

You are going to love the 40's but might be disappointed in either center. Let us know what you think when they arrive.

I never followed "post EMIT" Infinity...Were the Beta and IL step up?(from whatever was below).I have some Intermezzo I'll probably use once I move on to 11.1 Atmos(have 14 IM).I picked them up at an auction for(I think) $1600 total. 3 pairs of towers(none the top one) with 3 centers(the top center, twice). I'm assuming the owner(estate sale) had 2 5.1 setups and just upgraded at times. Luckily, all 6 towers are the same finish.

I think the Entra series was the step-down to the IL's. The Beta's and Primus ran concurrently. Not sure where the Alpha's fit in.

And what about the Delta series? Don't ever hear much about them.

I had some Cresendo 3006's and thought they were O.K. but it was soooo long ago I probably didn't appreciate what I had. Nice cabinets. Almost bought some 3009's a few years ago but those things are huge.

There's a guy local to me who buys up old Cresendo's (or anything with the Emit-R's) and refurbs them.
