I've been stewing about this for a couple months now. I'm a long time devotee of the Mac Mini. What a great computer. Between home, work and keeping my folks up to date, I own six of these awesome little babies and typically upgrade them every 2-3 years. All but one are dual core, but the one at home is a quad. They're all great, but the quad is really something special. With (aftermarket) 16GB RAM and running on a thunderbolt SSD boot drive, this baby really smokes. I even run two 1200x1920 monitors, do a lot of Photoshop and a LOT of HandBrake. It chews up and spits out everything I throw at it.
Then came the new Mini. I was planning on getting a new Quad and at least updating one of the others. Except, what a complete pile of excrement the new Mini is. What the F is Apple up to? Soldered RAM? No Quad? SOLDERED RAM!?!?!?
I don't really have anything else to say. Just that it has never been more clear that Apple doesn't want to make anything too good. Acceptable mediocrity may be more like it. They accidentally made a Mini that was better than they intended, so better dumb it down.
That is all...
