Greetings, first time poster and really hear seeking some specific feedback. My options are limited due to the shape of my room, my furniture, budget, and compromising with my spouse. You'll see in the pictures but I basically have one large non square chalet great room with vaulted ceiling(wiring is a bitch since the attic stops. We've divided it into a fireplace/sitting zone and entertainment zone. Not ideal but it's what I have. The curio cabinet is really nice but is designed for older TV's with depth. I finally found a stand that actually sits on a flat surface but the legs stick out and limit how far out from the alcove the TV goes and also the shape and dimensions of my center channel. The whole wall windows limited mounting options for surrounds so I ended up going higher than I wanted. Stands were vetoed for aesthetics and also for small children. My main questions are what can I do about a TV stand that works with my curio and what are my other options for how to set up my system? I have the Yamaha system in a box which got me started but I already want to upgrade the front 3 when I can afford it.

Some things that might help...

- If possible - push all of the speakers to the front of the shelves they are on. Looking at your center channel speaker - seems to be placed back on the shelf. Moving the speakers forward will get rid of any cabinet reflections you are getting.

- Looks like you need some light control as well - left side windows with no curtains on them cause a lot of reflections. Investing in some good black out curtains will help.

- TV should be fine where it is - moving the center channel forward will improve the sound.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. The upgraded center channels I've been looking at will not fit between the TV stand legs. Any alternative stand suggestions? And did I do the best I could regarding the surrounds placement up on the walls? I know they are hard to see with the picture size.

Might me on to something.

Get a piece of wood and some spaces - put it on top of the existing lower shelf. TV goes on the top, center channel goes on the bottom between the spacers. Looks like you have plenty of vertical clearance in the cabinet. - Then you can use the existing stands and save some $$ as well - as a piece of wood and whatever you use as spacers shouldn't cost too much.

As for the surrounds - if you have to mount them higher, make sure you angle them down toward the listening area.
