I couldn't believe how good the video and audio presentations were on this recent BD release. I only wish Nick and Julie had an audio commentary for this release as it was an acting workshop display with Spencer Tracy and Fredric March. Anyhow, I highly recommend this BD for anyone interested in seeing a great courtroom drama with some of the best acting performances you'll ever find in cinema.

For a nearly 55-year old movie, Inherit the Wind looks sensational. It looks like it was shot this year!

Was supposed to watch this yesterday. Gaming got in the way.

Have it on tap to watch this upcoming Sunday. Looking forward to it.

Never seen this film before so I expect it's going to be a very special experience.

Not surprised about the quality of the release. Twilight Time generally only releases
top-notch transfers.

This morning I treated myself to a Spencer Tracy Double Feature

First, Olive Film's Blu-ray release of The Mountain. Never heard of this film until
a good friend of mine brought it up in dinner conversation when I mentioned that
I had loved Judgement at Nuremberg. He recommended that I watch this Spencer
Tracy film, and after consulting with Robert Crawford, I got a second recommendation.

The film was very good. I particularly adored the fact that Spencer Tracy never
looked as if he was acting at all. There's something very natural about his performance
that doesn't look as if any effort was put behind it. That is what makes him one of the
greatest actors of our time.

Like all other Olive films I own, the quality of the transfer was questionable. It was
apparent that not much was done to clean it up and some segments showed dirt
and other anomalies.

Next up was a film I had heard of, but never seen: Inherit the Wind. What an absolutely
brilliant performance by both Tracy and March. This is just one of those films that you
sit, watch and savor the performances. Truly one of the best classic films I have seen.
It was great seeing a lot of supporting cast members that I instantly recognized from
television and film including Dick York, Norman Fell and Harry Morgan (in no special
order).

Like all the Twilight Time films I own, the quality of the transfer was astounding. You
can really tell the difference between a Twilight Time selected transfer and some of
the stuff coming from these other companies.

Ron,

I have to revisit The Mountain BD. I didn't think it was that bad, but during viewings, I have a tendency to get engross with the movie I'm watching unless a video/audio defect is so bad, it takes me out of the movie.

As to Inherit the Wind, I figured you would enjoy those acting performances. I always thought Gene Kelly was very good in that film too.

Oh my Gosh...I didn't list Gene Kelly in the above post. Holy oversight, Batman!

Yes! Yes! Gene Kelly was remarkable in this film.

Yeah, I am so used to the quality restorations that "A" titles receive that I immediately
notice the imperfections in titles released from Kino and Olive.
