I was wondering if anyone had this and if so could comment on the PQ of some of the titles particularly The Glass Key , The Blue Dahlia, Criss Cross, The Big Clock etc

I wasn't thrilled with the TCM set with the Glass Key so I was hoping this was an upgrade

I just got the 10-Movie set and have only looked at the first few minutes of "Criss Cross" (one of the titles I have as a stand-alone disc). Though it shares a disc with "The Big Clock", I see no difference in PQ.

Cool..Please check out the Glass Key and Blue Dahlia .. I dont know why, but the TCM PQ was inferior to the Universal Region 2 DVDs at least to me.. they seemed softer or something that wasn't quite right. Some of the motions in the films in a couple of scenes were awkward - I need to revisit I think

Im really glad I made this thread because I really appreciate the feedback ! :)

I second this. I will buy this if either of those happened to have gotten a better transfer included.

There is some kind of stuttering at or just after the 40 minute mark in the Glass Key when Alan Ladd wakes up. Its brief.. I think there is one more scene like that

I love The Big Clock and was going to buy the standalone release until I found this collection on Amazon and will most likely buy it when my budget allows it.

Was the stuttering issue David referred just the result of a single defective disc or is it an authoring or similar problem for the entire release?

I just purchased this set from Amazon for $40.99. I can't wait for it to arrive.

Has anyone else experienced the stuttering issue in The Glass Key that David mentioned?

I passed on the 10 movie set because its possible that some of these titles outside of Touch of Evil or Double Indemnity could get blu ray releases... I am trying to avoid wasting money on DVDs, especially double dipping.

Just for clarification, the stuttering issue you are referring to is on The Glass Key DVD-R released by Universal on June 10, 2013 and you are not referring to the pressed disc version that was released in the Fim Noir 10 Movie Spotlight Collection, correct?

It happens at the 40 minute mark / it was really brief , its when Ed wakes up from being out cold ..

Also its a little choppy at the 57 minute mark with Ed on the couch in a far shot

Thanks for the further clarification. My set from Amazon just arrived today (their price had dropped to $40.99) and I will be on the lookout for those two issues.

I finally got the Film Noir 10 Movie Spotlight Collection on amazon for $26.49. The transfers for The Glass Key, Phantom Lady, and The Blue Dahlia are new! They are significant upgrades from the TCM set that was released years ago containing just those 3 movies.
