I figured I'd start a everything Minecraft thread so that the "What I've played last" thread doesn't get spammed by pics and such. Post anything Minecraft related :)

My current Minecraft build is based off of Direwolf 1.6.4 on The Feed the Beast launcher, I haven't named the Mod pack yet. I added a few mods to it and subtracted a couple that we don't use. The texture pack we use is Soartex Fanvor. The build was surprising stable right off the get go :) We play on survival mod on our server. So we are all forever mining lol

Here are some screen shots of my first build on the server, its the castle in the Nether. Needed it for a Wither Spawner and eventually bee breeding.

I bet! The 360 version is awesome. I'm pretty sure they have cool downloads and such for it too now-a-days :)

Just started working on the first major update to my Mod package. I figured it was time to move on to a newer version of Minecraft. I've got to figure out how to do it so that we don't have to start a new world. The current world on the server is awesome. The members of the server have built so many cool things and continue to do so :)

One of my friends and I have decided to take on a massive works project and create an underground dungeon of sorts with a lava lake at the bottom. Can't wait to start on it :) I'll wait for my wife to start working on the castle again since the exterior is finally done.

Is this like Lego-building, where these are static creations? Or is this like a video-game construction kit, where you're making 'levels' that you or friends then play through? Is there an MMO aspect where you and friends play levels or scenarios together, banding together to solve problems or beat the boss levels?

I've got zero experience with Minecraft but have wondered what the fuss is about :)

Just to warn ya, I have never played vanilla Minecraft. To get a good opinion on that you'll have to ask radioman. He has played vanilla Minecraft a ton. I play with a bunch of friends and family on a server with a custom mod pack installed. The Mods add a ton of things to the original Minecraft.

In a way you could say all of the above. The best quote I've heard about Minecraft is it is the game nobody plays exactly the same. My wife plays it for all the cool magic, especially from the Mod Thaumcraft 4 and exploring the world, my brother and cousin play mainly for the creative building aspect of the game, my two best friends play it because of the industrial aspect provided by multiple mods and building industry related structures (one of them is building on Mars currently, our other server admin loves to mine (sometimes thats all he does all day longs) then he builds complicated things with what he finds, and a co-worker of mine loves building structures underground and seeking out the challenge of the many dungeons in Minecraft (he dies a lot lol).

Myself, well I love building more than anything else it seems. I have built quite few massive works projects on my own and I've worked on quite a few with other players on the server, especially my wife. I love all the content the mods add and enjoy figuring out all the intricacies of each mod. It allows you to combine the abilities of each mod to get even cooler builds or better equipment to fight those monsters.

As you can probably see, with Minecraft you've got to create your own goals whether it be to become a master wizard, explore the whole world (good luck it never ends), become an industrial giant, build massive buildings or entire cities, or work with others on the server to create cool things. Its all up to you. When you play online you can work by yourself or with others. Either that or you can do a combination of both like we do. Its completely up to you.

On a final note, we play on survival mod (not creative which allows you to build with unlimited resources). We enjoy the challenge of having to mine everything in order to build, deal with monsters/bosses, storms, no air in space, and having to find food to survive. It is a blast.

If you are interested in giving it a try, let me know. Were looking to add a couple more people to our server. I can give instructions on how to install the mod pack and how to get onto the server. I can also help you get started if ya let me know when your gonna log on the first time.

A lot of kids (including mine) play it essentially as Call of Duty with lame graphics. They have favorite servers that they visit to play capture-the-flag and Hunger Games-type battles.

Thanks, I appreciate the invitation.
I might take you up on it next year to experience it once. But I think that, against a new PS4 and my other time-wasters, that I wouldn't be recurring player. Unless it's that powerful a draw, in which case self-preservation requires I continue to avoid it :D

We ended up finding a nice mountain range not too far from our main area so we decided to build in the mountains. I eventually want to build paths that go between all our areas so I currently looking into bridge designs and deciding if I want to go over a huge area with it or not.

I love the festive texture pack for the 360. Very winter like, and good music.
