All this talk about Plasma makes me want to buy one. I have a 42" Panasonic that was used in my bedroom for a few years (currently broken) but my main HT TV is a 5 year old LCoS from JVC. So with this in mind (and the peer pressure from this forum  ), I started looking for something new.

HH Greg has 3 60" plasmas that I could pick up and have in my house by this weekend. What are you thoughts on these? And are any of them worth it over my JVC HD-ILA?

Best Buy has one:

I prefer to buy local for TV's.

I recommend the Samsung.

Samsung models tend to have deeper blacks, brighter whites, and richer colors than LG models.

Both are still better than watching an LED/LCD.

The 6650 series LG uses the same panel as the "made 2 years ago" THX certified set. Then, LG was the only one with a THX certified plasma...everybody seems to forget that. The software that runs the TV isn't as robust...hence why it isn't THX certified anymore.

That's the LG 60PB5600 model. So tempting... too bad it only has 1 HDMI input, and no "smartness". :D

Done. Picking it up tonight. You can't beat $500 - Even if it isn't going to replace my old TV, it will fit nicely in the basement. :D

Sold out online. My local store has bunch of them but the price is no doubt back up to $699.

Congratulations, David! Nice work (and a great example of the danger of HTF "peer pressure."

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I hope you have many years of enjoyment with it!
