Square (credit card) reader users? (1 Viewer)

Anybody out there using the new credit card app for iOS or Android out there? What are you using it on, a tablet running iOS or Android? Pros/Cons, experience?

Would I be able to run the Square android app using various tools on Google Chrome on a regular laptop running some flavor of Microsoft Windows 7 or 8.1? Anybody doing just that?

My brother in law is looking at getting a laptop or tablet or perhaps one of those tablet/laptops for his small business and the Square reader. But he also wants to be able to surf the net, do invoices on say a word processor and do normal laptop like stuff...

Use on tablet. Easy to deal with.

latest news is they went to a Costco to try various tablets and he thought it was too small. The problem is they also want to use it as a "PC" also his line of work (working at a plant nursery) is dirty and also rough so ideally he'd have a laptop or desktop and then a tablet just for the Square... and then a smartphone for jobs offsite. So trying to have 3 different gadgets with 1 budget... I think the tablet would be the way to go, I think we can get him an older laptop hand-me-down to use for web browsing, etc..

mattCR, have you had experience with the actual Square apps?

Yep, I have the square app on my iPad. It works flawlessly. It just plugs in, swipe and I'm done. It also works on my wife's Ipad Mini. I haven't tried it on other tablets I have, but I could try.
