Trying to figure out how to best configure our future media room. I was originally thinking a 60"-65" screen, but after looking at a couple of stores, I think I might need a bigger screen?I remember seeing a listing of some optimal screen sizes and seating distances before, but I'm not sure where. So, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with what size and distance woul work best?

It depends on whether or not you are going to use a surround sound system. If you do, you don't want the seating too close to the rear wall.

What are your plans for audio?

If running 7.1, seating should be 7-9 feet from the screen...to have proper room behind you. If you go 9 feet, 100" image...easy.

That room is too small for a 7.1 system. You can do it, but that means a smaller screen size. I would rather do a 5.1 system with a larger screen.

Sit about 12' back, screen size about 110" diagonal.

Too far back even for 5.1. Seating...even for 5.1, should never be more than 60% to the back wall. Yeah this is small. No way to go further than 10'.

For comparison...I sit 9.5' from a 108" 2.35:1. Which that is a 120" 16:9. I don't watch much TV with the projector though. 90% of the content is 2.35 and wider(I was never into older Hollywood...so tall/narrow is not my viewing style)
