Two for the Road is a wonderful film and I hope those who do not know about it and/or remember it would give yourself a gift and buy it.

It's a Eureka disc so it will probably be excellent. (Opinions about the cover will vary, I'm sure! I think it's hideous and will put off a lot of potential buyers)

Indeed, not a very good sense of design in that cover. What is the region code for the release?

Why would any fan of Two for the Road give a flying Wallenda about the cover. Is that what we're about now? It could be a plain brown cover if the transfer on the disc inside is great.

Because if you're a fan of the movie you want to see it treated properly from the beginning to end of the release project. A fitting cover is certainly a part of that and the tendency for slap dash artwork is why Fritz Nielsen's custom cover thread is so lengthy. But if someone doesn't understand that then nothing I can say will make someone think differently about it.

The cover appears to be an adaptation of one of the original posters, which didn't do much to sell tickets in 1967. I don't think it's terrible, like the covers for Drive, say, or Modern Romance. Its many cultists are the target audience and count me in for a sale. (I think Twilight Time will pick up this Fox title for Region A.)

As Bob says above this post, blame the original one-sheet and publicity. A lot of posters, then and now, sucked. Didn't stop us from loving the movie and going to it. I just don't care. I don't look at the cover I watch the movie and then it goes on a shelf with 2 or 3,000 other discs. Honestly.

Has anyone said the cover art prevents them from buying the title? Or made them not go see a movie? Just because we complain about a part of it doesn't mean we've written off the entire thing.

But to each his own.

Not everyone buys their discs on-line. The casual movie-fans who occasionally browse in stores may well make a quick decision to buy or not to buy based on the impression of the film provided by the cover art. In this forum we tend to be movie fanatics and know our films really well. Out there, in that big wide world, there are many, many people who do not know films really well.

The DVD cover is no more enticing. Fact is, an eye-catching cover isn't going to do much to attract blind buyers at the few stores still selling catalog Blus; you're just as well off slapping Photoshopped images of stars on the box and hoping someone remembers them.
