I thought I'd start a new thread since any links to firmware update sites have been shuffled around by Funai.
I just successfully updated the firmware in both my Magnavox units (NB500MG9 and NB500MGXA) to the latest versions, so I know this link is correct as of today.

On that page is a link to a secondary page of detailed instructions for downloading and using the firmware updates.
In both cases my as-shipped firmware did NOT display the firmware version number in the "Setup" page. For the NB500MG9, I was able to determine the detailed model number E5E20UD via a sticker placed on the bottom of the unit. Such physical inspection may be needed for most owners. Naturally after the updates both players correctly showed the version number in the "Setup" page.
