Hi all!!!

I'm new to this forum! I'd really like ti if you could guide me through the purchase of a home theatre system.

1) I would use it to watch tv and play videogames with xbox 360 (even listen to music with my hi-fi if possible)

2) I'm not a big fan of movies so I definitely do not need something which is cutting edge ( at the moment I just use the hi-fi speakers but my GF doesn't like them so she wants to buy something different)

3) It has to be wireless

4) Budget is about 250 Euros (320 US $)

I hope I have given all the info you need ^_^

thank you!!

3) Wireless where? From the components (like the xbox) to the A/V receiver? Wireless between the A/V receiver and speakers? Both? The first - not going to happen without adding additional options to make it wireless. Just this will cost more than your budget allows. The second - speakers are never truly wireless. Either they have a wire from the receiver to the speaker or the signal is sent wireless to the speaker where their is an amplifier in the speaker. The amplifier gets its power by plugging into the wall.

A real wireless speaker would be battery powered. That means you would have to replace the batteries regularly. In my case that would be hourly. Or you would have to charge them at the same frequency you replace the batteries. Finally, battery power will not get you much more than a few watts of power. A good 100w amp requires a 12v battery about the size of one in your car. At normal listening levels you would need to recharge every 3 to 5 hours.

Hi Rober . Thank you for answering! I see that having a wireless speakers is not the best option! Just FYI I watch TV series 3 hours a WEEK and even less time is spent with the Xbox. Having a home theatre,or maybe I just need a couple of speakers or a sound bar - is my GF's request as at the moment I use my hi-fi amplifier with its two big loudspeakers which do their job pretty well but my gf doesn't like them. She says they're too big and ugly so I need an alternative

Tell her that she hurt your speaker's feelings and they think she is too big and ugly. :)

Really, include her in the process. Show her that size is directly proportional to function when it comes to speakers.

Sounds like you need a decent sound bar. That topic has been beaten to death already so do a little bit of searching.

Without making specific recommendations, I'd stick with major brands whatever you decide to go with.

How big is too big? Do you have an amp or an AVR/Receiver? Are you looking for a 2.1 setup or is the addition of a subwoofer out of the question?
