I'd like to be able to put my receiver on one setting and have it always play the correct source, but after experimenting with several different 2.0 sources, it doesn't seem possible. I can't find the thread, but I once read on this site where a poster said that Pro Logic II should be applied to any 2.0 source you listen to. Do you agree and does this only apply to movies, or also TV Shows?

I'm happy with Pro Logic II on 2.0 sources most of the time, but there are a few cases where it doesn't seem to work right. What I like is that it puts 2.0 mono sources into the center channel and makes a show like Charmed sound pretty good coming out of all 5 speakers. However, shows like Family Ties and The Wonder Years seemed to sound better only coming out of two speakers with my receiver set to stereo and Pro Logic II turned off. Then there is Punky Brewster which is supposed to be in stereo, but everything played in the center channel with PLII turned on while I heard separation with the receiver set to stereo. The audio of Punky sounds inferior to all the other sources I mentioned, so is it possible that they somehow recorded it on two separate mono quality channels and called it stereo?

On the box, Charmed says the audio is Stereo Surround. Since that was the only thing that really sounded good to me on five speakers out of all the sources I listed, does that mean it was probably the only show I listed that has the hidden audio cues to correctly play a 2.0 source on all five speakers?
