One of the companies HTF is friendly with has been cleaning out their office
and invited me to raid their shelves filled with new and used Blu-ray titles.

On the shelf was sitting this Die Hard Collection.

I know it's the very first collection that was released to Blu-ray.

My question is this...

Are the transfers on these discs the same as those in the newer collections
released over the years?

Just wondering if I have the best transfers that are currently available even
though this set is somewhat dated.

I suspect that the third film is the edited PG version?

Thanks in advance

I believe they are the same transfers, they are serviceable, the third one is a huge upgrade over the dvd which had atrocious EE.

As far as i am aware the third film is the same R rated that has always been available, the fourth film is the PG-13 version, i'm holding out for the new 4K scans that were reported to have been done, that and the alternate cut of the fourth one, until then i won't give them any cash.

I have the same set Ron. And you're right on all counts: same transfers (same discs, even) as the newer re-releases and Live Free is indeed the PG-13 cut.

It's missing the Decoding Die Hard disc which was in the later Legacy sets and on the standalone re-releases, it's an excellent 90 minute documentary about the franchise.

Fox also has a new 4K scan for the original Planet Of The Apes, so far they haven't released it, i'd just go ahead and buy.
