Turner Classic Movies and Universal are proud to present the first-ever Blu-ray release of REMEMBER THE NIGHT (1940), digitally remastered and fully restored from high resolution 35mm original film elements in commemoration of its 75th anniversary.

Synopsis:
Legendary screen duo Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray star in this heartwarming holiday classic, which is more popular than ever as it celebrates its 75th anniversary. Stanwyck is a petty shoplifter caught stealing a bracelet and MacMurray is the Assistant District Attorney who gets her sent off to jail just before the holidays, then suffers a crisis of conscience and bails her out. When he invites her to join him and his family for Christmas, it begins a relationship that strains—but ultimately redeems—all parties. Featuring a wonderful supporting cast (Beulah Bondi, Sterling Holloway and Elizabeth Patterson), stylish costumes by Edith Head, a hilarious yet poignant script by Preston Sturges and superb direction by Mitchell Leisen, this is a timeless holiday favorite that can be enjoyed in any season.

I feel kind of skeptic since their last Blu-ray release was not all that great, I just hope they get this one right like their first one.

TCM has it available for Pre-Order for $24.99 and will be released on November 3, 2014.

Kinda weird that they released this on blu-ray only during the 3rd pass during the past 4 years. I bought the first disc, passed on the second restored DVD.

This blu-ray, however, makes it worth the double dip. Though I do feel sorry for those that are triple-dipping.

That's right. I'd forgotten that there was a "new improved" edition out. I only have the original pressing burning. That's one instance where digital downloads have the advantage. Once you own a digital copy, you don't have to re-buy the movie to get remastered editions.

Don't feel sorry for me as I'm not buying it a third time. At least, not this Christmas season. :)

I'm just glad this finally made it to BD. It's an absolute favourite Mitchell Leisen, along with Midnight (Billy Wilder Screenplay). Stanwyck and MacMurray in the first of a string of ideal movie partnerships that ends with Sirk's fabulous There's Always Tomorrow at Universal. One of the greatest screen duos of all time IMO.And a flawless Preston Sturges screenplay, with Sturges' acidity tempered by Leisen's incomparably nurturing direction of actors. Friedrich Hollander score, and one of the greatest American DPs, Ted Tetzlaff (Notorious, The Window.)In my dreams, in a perfect world, BD Paramount box sets of Leisen, Sturges, Lubitsch and Sternberg. In my dreams.

There's a very good reason Universal is known for movies about bloodsuckers, er, vampires.

As much as I enjoyed this, I always watched it via my DVR every December.

Now that it is being released on Blu-ray, I will order it.

I received an email last week that my copy was on it's way. I wish we could get Holiday Affair and One Foot in Heaven. I read the novel and it is a fun read. I believe Hallmark has begun their annual Christmas movies.

Never NEVER order from TCM for international. Wait for it to turn up at amazon early next year, alternatively you can pay maximum retail with slightly less horrendous mail charges at moviesunlimited. Of the two Amazon is the lesser form of extortion.TCM and Twilight Time are really expensive labels to import non stateside unless you're rolling in loot.

I ordered from TCM earlier this year. With a 30% off sale on, and buying about $275 (US) of discounted items. most of which were very hard-to-find here in Vancouver, the flat $27 shipping charge to Canada worked for me. Mind you, one of the hard-to-find items was the "Library Of Congress" remaster of "Remember The Night" that you see me holding (with the earlier TCM DVD) in the picture above. I might have known...
