Does anyone know about this system. A kid wants me to trade him my system out of my truck for this and maybe a ruger 22 bolt action rifle and some cash. Im thinking the gun will be an easy sell for about 250 ish and i may use the speaker for a big or sell it. it list for 180 new so i was thinking maybe 125 to 150 used value if i sell. anyone with any input would be great

I'm thinking you're not going to get much over $100 for that if you sell it...it's a soundbar. I don't know what the system in your truck is worth but unless you really like the rifle and want to keep the soundbar for yourself I would probably pass.

I actually used to work in a Sony retail store and have spent a good amount of time with that bar. It sounds OKAY at best. It was the 2012 entry level soundbar/sub combo that we offered. Designed to sound better than your tv and not much else

It is, but it's not like a Sony or Samsung HTIB where the speakers and receiver are proprietary. Denon actually sells the E200 as a standalone receiver and Boston Acoustics makes quality speakers

The Onkyo HT-S5600, is $299 on the website I linked you to earlier. More codecs, networking capability, 7.1 instead of 5.1, not to mention Audessy auto calibration

Is it upgradeable also or when one messes up throw it all away?
Both the receiver and speakers are upgradeable as well as the subwoofer which is a powered sub. You may want to purchase thicker wire though

I think it's a great system. Sound is good when I went to NY to demo it. The only reason I didn't get it was because I was looking for something different in my system. I could tell by looking at the back of the receiver that the system is upgradeable. It uses standard speaker connectors. Lower end models use proprietary speaker connections so you can only use the speakers in the box. Not the case with this one. Sone of the lower end HTIB use passive subwoofers where the one on the 5600 is active.

These units you all are refering to are not HTiB but prepackaged or prepack home theater system. The difference is that prepacks have an actual AVR with a set of speakers vs an all in one dvd/blu-ray with an amp and tuner. The speakers are generally lower quality full rangers with most of the htib systems and have very few options for expansion. A prepacks downfall are usually the speakers depending on which model you get. The good thing is that you can always upgrade them.
