DOCTOR DOLITTLE--STAR!-----These large format TODD-AO films were requested from Fox by Twilight Time but were turned down. Who knows, maybe Fox is releasing these on their own,but I"m not holding my breath. TWO FOR THE ROAD---AN UNMARRIED WOMEN ---TOYS----FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX--- These I would expect from Twilight Time. Mr Finn or Twilight Time, feel free to chime in here.

Before anyone else says it -- and everyone potentially will -- let's put the
obvious out there...

The Abyss and True Lies

With this year's release of All That Jazz and My Darling Clementine, my
wish list with that studio is pretty much complete.

If I could request a really off-off title that I personally love, it would be Quills.
That's something I see Twilight Time releasing at some point.

Last night I looked at my old DVD of HEAVEN CAN WAIT (1943). It was put out by Criterion and it upconverted beautifully. For a film that no original picture elements survive, the color was very good...and I think as close to any Fox technicolor film could look from that era given the circumstances. The film is wonderful in all departments, so that is one I think would benefit on blu ray.

At this point, ANYTHING would be a blessing. Except for a few Fox Searchlight movies from the previous decade, it appears they are done with catalog. Nothing new since last May and nothing on the horizon. Looks like they will have to come out through Twilight Time, Anchor Bay or another distributor.

I'd like to see Valley of the Dolls, The Gang's All Here, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, Captain from Castile, Sun Valley Seranade/Orchestra Wives (would make a nice double bill), and The Girl Can't Help It.

There's a number of fifties & sixties films I'd love on a good looking Blu-ray, but I don't think any of them are going to come from Fox, maybe a few titles will be licensed out. How about some Fox titles that have already been released.A region B, The Robe. A non-waxworks region B Patton. The Longest Day redo. And I read here a few years back that Fox had done a new scan of Die Hard from the original negs, it would be great for that to be released on Blu...as long as it's not a cyan/blue special.

Number one wish The Mark Of Zorro

Would also like
The Keys Of The Kingdom

And from their Archives (unlikely, but I can wish)
Mother Wore Tights
It Happens Every Spring

Oh, and The Gang's All Here has been released in a Region 'B' version that is getting raves (my copy should arrive this week).

I've seen very nice looking HD transfers on TV of:

How To Steal A Million
The Mark Of Zorro (that one is still on my planner)

Acouple folks here mentioned SOLDIER OF FORTUNE.
I would love to see this redone with the original stereo.
For years, we got to see this on AMC in a not great looking widescreen master, but with awesome stereo sound.
Then Fox restores the Picture and release it in a clak gable box dvd set - in mono!!
Dont' be fooled by the labeling that says it is 5.1 only ONE channel has the mono sound.
Fox supposedly can't play the stereo track.
What they COULD do is lift the stereo track from the old master.

I would also love to see Captain fro castille, if Fox vid would be willing to pull the sound from original nitrate prints.
This film used to sound swesome. All they have is bad opticla dupes that sound horrendous.

Then, how about some scope films that have never been released on dvd?
April Love,
The Best Things in Life are Free
Certain Smile
Prince of Players

I understand that the 70mm film THE BLUE BIRD was a Russian/USA coproduction so maybe Fox don't have the rights? What about RALLY 'ROUND THE FLAG BOYS and THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR (A cinemascope remake of THE RAINS CAME)? There are many more early cinemascope films from Fox that have yet to see the light on bluray such as THE NIGHT PEOPLE and SOME CAME RUNNING.
