My second favorite new half-hour comedy of the season (after the genuinely decent "Selfie"), but it's a classic example of the writing not living up to the casting. Katey Sagal is pitch perfect as the almost clinical narrator, and Ben Feldman and Cristin Milioti elevate the material in every scene they're in. The concept, charting an entire courtship over the course of a television season, is an interesting hook. But the obligatory best friends to each of the lead feel like they stepped out of one of the seemingly endless short-lived "Friends" knockoffs and the show didn't really provide any reason to invest in Andrew and Zelda as distinct individuals instead of scaffolding for romantic comedy plot lines.

I was "meh" on the pilot. Not sure having a ticking time bomb on the relationship makes it "must see TV".

I saw the pilot over the summer via On Demand. Beforehand, the premise seemed like a blatant rip off of HIMYM, even going so far as to cast the Mother. Watching it, it wasn't horrible, but it still feels like they're trying too hard.

I think it would do much better if it was given a guaranteed limited duration. One season, 26 episodes, and good or bad it's done.

We started watching this last night and watched A, B, and C. It's a fun show thus far, trying to find its footing (obviously), but the chemistry the main leads have is really good. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out, and it's (so far) a nice, laid back replacement for HIMYM for us.

Also, Ray Parker Jr is going to be guesting in an episode soon.

I watched the pilot and it was okay, but it seemed more like a self-contained short film with a resolute ending than a pilot. The second episode decided to have the guy go on a previously arranged date even though he was in a relationship, with the schlubby friend generating a non-sensical reason to go through with this awful, awful idea.

Which is when I turned it off. Not only did the artificial impediment to their romance reek of contrived stupidity, it also had zero dramatic significance since the entire premise of the show is that they get married or whatnot. I just don't get the point of this show other than to show how adorable Christina Milioti is.

If you only have one slot in your viewing schedule for a romantic comedy, Marry Me is the far superior show.

I wonder how they call this show "cancelled" when the network states they will show the rest of the season, just not make any new episodes. I guess it is just semantics, but cancelled doesn't seem like the correct term. Basically this show will not return.

I really like Cristina Milioti and was hoping the best for her. The show is sort of meh for me. I like the dynamic between A and Z but Andy's friend is way too much. I also think Big Bird is a little too much as well.

Ah. The note I read said "canceled" but didn't give details whether it would show all episodes. It was not must-see for me, so I've raken it off the Tivo. I do hope for something better for miliotti, since she's got so much charm.

NBC is going to air the 13 episodes that have been completed, but they won't produce the back 13 episodes. So the show will be more "A to M" than "A to Z".

"Cancelled" is when the showrunners don't make the decision to end the series.

Well, the final episode aired this week.

Overall, I liked the show -- the chemistry between the two leads was very good, it played fairly true to reality in terms of the emotional bounces that both went through along the way.

Last night's episode wasn't the strongest of the bunch, though the other half made a great joke when Zelda chose to move to New York and the screen faded to black...

"And then, she met Ted."

I liked this show also. Too bad they ended it so soon. They should have given it time. At the beginning I didn't like the guy but with each episode I liked him more.
