But its going to be dtsHDMA 2.0? No I won't be spending money on it. The laserdisc cost me a little more than the bluray and has Dolby Digital AC-3 5.1, I'm not downgrading to 2.0.

UK Bluray got withdrawn due to a mastering error a few weeks ago which caused a pixelation error @ 2 min 9 secs so check the master out!

The UK version with problems was the recent release from Network which was a "remastered" edition. Shout's release is coming from ITV, which I doubt has been remastered (probably the same as the UK ITV release) and which has no mastering problems. The Network edition was a Region B locked disc.

I think some people (because of how Amazon UK lumps reviews of editions together sometimes with dubious specs) ordered the Region B Network edition thinking it was region-free instead of the ITV version which actually is region free.

Region Free ITV BD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Capricorn-One-Blu-ray-Elliott-Gould/dp/B000X1ETWQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1412342841&sr=1-1&keywords=capricorn+one

uhhh Network IS ITV.
Yes...but 2 different transfers....the original was done in 2009 (the "ITV" release which has no mastering issues and is region-free), and the newer transfer (the "Network" release from this year, which has confirmed mastering issues and is region-b locked). I believe Shock! got the older transfers based on when they originally bought the US rights.

This region locking is nonsense. There few ways to get around it.

Buy a multi-region or a USA player with step down transformer.

Region locking waste of time. HD-DVD didn't have this nonsense.

I can play the opening titles on the Laserdisc 10 times before resuming with the film. The tight string precision instruments horns blowing away, wow its a damn good start for a gripping conspiracy film. Jerry Goldsmith rules. ;)

At +13sec on the video the bass beat rocks me back in rocker seats with a slam at 35Hz. (THX). :P

Which version do you prefer? 1st version is the one used in the film, 2nd version is from the original soundtrack album which was a rerecording by Goldsmith and the National Philharmonic.

It has to be the 2nd version hands down it has depth of open airy windness with sweeping epic.

Shorter version for the opening titles.

I was just thinking about this movie the other night - I'd buy this one.

There was a complete soundtrack release for this that is now sadly OOP. But it is quite spectacular if you can find it.

When I clicked on the link in the first post, it took me to Shout's site but the BD has been removed from what i could see.

Darn, how many times have I watched this...way to many to count. Not going to buy it again, that's for sure.

I tried for years to find this on DVD and finally got it. Never saw the laser disc. I have the first BD release and it's fine.

This is the only movie my father and I ever saw by ourselves. It's a great memory because he passed away not too long after. I always said even from the start that Goldsmith's score accounted for at least 50% of the power of this movie. I still believe it today. Has to be one of my top ten film scores ever.

So should we just stick with the "ITV DVD" (i.e. blu-ray) from the UK released in 2007? Or will this be a better picture/audio experience?
