You could make a switch so that you need only press it and it will rerevse without getting behind the equipment, I forget how to do it now? Has I haven't had it connected for years, where it was so uncommon at the time but annoying when you get that film you like and have to reverse RCA phone leads on Front LR Surround LR. Clifhanger (1993) bluray is revesred on all 4 channels. STAR TREK IV (1986) is reversed on the split surrounds only on the DVD original motion picture collection.schan1269 said:

36 STAR WARS Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983) CBS/FOX lettterbox laserdisc is where you'd hear the now rare subtle dialouge pans that was centred on the CAV THX laerdisc. Lucas has it for diloaue pans? Yet he wants a few of them in Episode I II. But who wants to hear Jar, Jar panned seeing him is just as worse. Some other subtle ones heard in STAR WARS (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980) with some snowtrooper voice panned to stage left.
37 Raising Cain (1992) rented this years ago and I can recall the dialouge panning around inside Cain's head that was circling around the 4 PL directional channels.

38 Hallow Man (2000) subtle dialogue pans if your listening out for them across the stage channels when we can't see him? We can hear his voice over stage LR.
39 The Shadow (1994) rented this on VHS years ago and I seem to recall the shadow voice panning around. Might get the dts Laserdisc the bluray captures look DNR. (Dialogue No Replacement).

While it worked pretty well at the height of Cinemascope mania in the mid-50s, the decline of the 70mm format and Hollywood's growing habit of just making a single 4-track mix and smearing it into the other two front channels in the late-60s and early-70s made this gimmick increasingly poor quality. Hence Dolby's decision to make Star Wars' mix center dialogue with music and effects only in far left, right, and surround with those unnecessary center left and right speakers outputting a single low frequency bass channel.
