Hi,

I've been working with PA systems for a few years but I've never worked with a home audio set up. I'm on a tight budget and I've set up a system I think will be decent for the price that I would like input on. I will be using a 48" TV in a living room that's 14'x12' with a couch and an overstuff chair. Its main use will be movies and games, sometimes music but not nearly as often.

Let me know what you think please! Thanks!

Here it is:

Receiver-
Denon AVR-E200 (Yes I know its discontinued and old but it has what I need)

Front LR-
Onkyo SKF-4200

Front Center-
JBL Loft 20

Last year is "old"? My Integra DTR 7.8 must be farting dust...

Kidding...sort of.

The only question I have...Why not stick with JBL for all the speakers? (except the sub)

The 4800 is only 86db efficient. That is middling to poor efficiency for a speaker that size.

The Loft 50(not much more than the 4800) is 91 DB efficient. Much better...and a better match for the rest.

Impressive...the Loft 40 is 90db efficient.

If you don't understand 86 vs 91 efficiency...ask.

The reason I have the Onkyo's selected is the price. The Loft 50s (which I'll admit I did not see) are twice the price of the SKFs. I found a set of 5.0 Fluance speakers that have good reviews. Would those be passable alternatives with the Polk PSW 121 and AVR E200 until I can afford good speakers like Klipschs or would I be better off spending the money now on JBLs?Fluance:http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00064JWSG?pc_redir=1411189996&robot_redir=1Loft 50:http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LZWWSUW?pc_redir=1411187044&robot_redir=1

The Loft 50's are showing up as slightly cheaper than the SKF's to me.

The SKF's are $149.99 with free shipping. The Loft 50's are $299.98 + $37.99 shipping.

The link you posted is to SKF 4800s, mine are 4200s. Not sure how that happened but each link opens to a different page for me.

The $200 5.0 AVHTB, as an intermediary between me having no speakers and me dropping a bunch of money on a good set of Klipsch's or the like.

I'm thinking I will go with the Fluance AV HTB, the Denon AVR E200 and the Polk PSW 121. Anyone see any major problems with that setup being good for a year or so?

That setup should be fine and you can always upgrade later if you think your lacking in an area. I would look at getting a refurb E300 as opposed to the e200 or even new if you can swing it. The 300 adds a lot more bells and whistles for the same money refurb or a bit more new.

That's definitely something I will look into, thank you. The Fluance HTB should be good enough to get me started, I will probably move that system into the bedroom after I save up around $1200 for a NICE system.
