You know, I usually don't care for shows where the protagonist either remembers or observes something or figures out a complex problem in their head because I think it's all a little too convenient or worse, lazy writing. And while I was hoping for a better origin story, I have to say this show was very entertaining. Great pacing, action, effects, along with a tender overall theme and ending that helped overcome the plot devices. I really enjoyed this show. Not as much as the trailers made it out to be, but I will be keeping this one on my pvr for sure.

I call it Numb3rs 2.0.

Numb3rs lasted for 6 seasons because it had character development to go along with it's theme. Especially between the Eppes brothers and their father.

Let's see what happens.

I've got to call them out about having a copy of the air traffic control software residing on the planes. That just doesn't make any sense.

Also, what did they do to get the doors to the server facility opened? If they loaded the power line down to cause a short brownout, they could cause an arc flash and an explosion. Yeah, I'm thinking about it too much!

I did enjoy it for the most part, but it was too fast paced. I hope the writing improves.

The technical stuff flew by too fast for me. I like the how the waitress will be the link to the everyday world for the team.

It was funny how the Homeland Security guy was throwing envelopes with cash at everybody.

I watched the pilot episode and if I do continue to watch this I really am going to have to not think too hard about what is presented. Case in point...

It would be impossible to stand up in a Ferrari going 150+ MPH like Katherine McPhee's character did at the airport. I used to drive motorcycles and even at 100 MPH the wind resistance is attempting to tear you off of the bike.

I guess you could stand up, but you'd probably be rolling down the tarmac in a matter of seconds. :)

I enjoyed the show and will continue to watch/dvr. However, there is a lot of s&t (science and technology) that is best not examined carefully. I like the kid's use to show the difficulty of communications between muggles and gifted. And the mom/waitress had empathy and good looks. I don't think I like Robert Patrick's hair, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

The technology stuff was about as ludicrous as such can be. "Not examining it carefully" is one thing, and I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of story, but come on - dangling a cable from the plane to download software was the silliest thing I've ever seen. It was Sharknado bad.

How long would the plane be in position? Not as long as they portrayed. I think this show is going to require a big dose of suspension of disbelief. My wife and I both like it.

This first episode looks almost like a "serious" version of an unholy crossbreeding between "The Big Bang Theory" and "Under The Dome", while turning out to be unintentionally funny.

Overall it seemed rather awful.

Were they trying to portray the kid as a high functioning autistic?

And supposedly the plane couldn't land because the runway was too short.

Actually, I found that part of the scenario to be credible. A Ferrari can brake a lot quicker from 200 MPH than a jet airliner and the car nearly crashed into the barrier at the end of the runway.

It took them a full minute and a half to get down the length of the runway, including downloading the software. At 200mph that should have been a distance of 5 miles covered. Plenty of time and distance to land.

Not to mention flying a jumbo jet steadily, a few feet off the ground.

Of course, you are absolutely correct. Either they messed up the time or the distance or both. A 747 (I don't recall specifically what model the plane was) needs around a 10,000 foot runway to land. At a constant rate of 200 MPH the plane will cover a 10,000 foot runway in around 34 seconds, not 90 seconds.

Just like the end of Fast & Furious 6 where the cargo plane is shooting down the runway at near liftoff speed for nearly 10 minutes without ever reaching the end.

Yeah, this is just awful. I mean, the show is fun to watch and I find I'm rooting for the team, and there's some potentially interesting story arcs being set up here. but its unwatchable.
