This seems like a good note to kick past the rumors thread to the official buyers and owners discussion:
Confirmed: Apple Store doesn’t specify this, but as w/ yrs past, iPhone preorders will begin at 12:01am PT. Set your alarms!

Thank you for this, Sam.

Fortunately for me, I am off that day and always up at 3am.

So, no worries here.

Hey, buddy, can you believe it? I am going back to the iPhone.

Which one? 64 or 128GB space grey verizon 6+ for me. With one of those snazzy looking black leather cases.

Can YOU believe I'm really gonna order a phablet? Don't tell Hanson!!!!! =)

The proof will be in the pudding of course. I'm willing to bet that the addition of optical stabilization and 240fps trumps the pocket issue for me. The extra resolution is gravy too. We'll see,

Looks like the both of us are very excited. I am so excited you
are going with a Phablet....and no, we won't tell Hanson. :)

I am going with the 64GB Space Grey as well. Considered Gold,
but it doesn't look as "classy."

Case. Yes, I am considering the leather case because it's available
now.

However...

Have always been a Seidio guy. They make very thin, durable cases
that include a kickstand to place your phone on the table and watch
media. My past three Android phones all had Seidio cases. Here is
the one for the iPhone 6....

http://www.seidioonline.com/apple-iphone-6-surface-kickstand-case-black-p/csr3iph6k-bk.htm

Don't see a PLUS model yet, but certain that will eventually happen.

Yeah, I mean, the leather case will be immediately available and
unfortunately, I'll be shelling out $50 for it from Apple.

Also need a media dock to dock the phone at night and output my
music and sleep machine app. Not sure this phone will work with the
current 5S media dock.

Welp, Sam, no more arguing about phones. You and I are on the same team.

Ron I'm a bit confused. You keep commenting that one version looks "classier" than the other colors and that's why you want a particular color, so people think you have a "classier" phone. However, when looking at your case choice, nobody would have a clue whether or not your phone is "classier" than their phone or any other phone. The phone would basically look like the other millions of phones wrapped in some sort of plastic.

So why so worried about looking "classier" than other folks?

Alf,

Hmmmm. That's a good point. I can't argue you on that.

True, the phone is covered by a case. So essentially, I can go any color I want.

I suppose, no matter what one decides to do -- cover their phone or not with a case --
they are still going to choose the color that appeals to them the most.

I mean, I would never buy a pink phone just because I plan to cover it in a black case.

Robert Crawford said:
How much is the 6+ with 64GB versus 6+ with 128 GB?
$100 difference.

$299 for 16, $399 for 64 and $499 for 128. 64 is a no brainer upgrade. 128 only if you think you really really need it.

Since I am selling my Samsung phone this week and returning my
watch, that extra credit may allow me to buy the 128GB phone.

As I think about it, I would like to store music on the phone. My
Cadillac Cue System doesn't work well with the iPod Classic. However,
it does work well with the iPhone.

Also, resell value will be much better come trade-in time.

So, I am kind of thinking 128GB might be a smart idea.

So will there not be non-contract pricing? I was thinking of going for T-Mo iPhone6 for my mother and maybe my teenage kids and not do any (extra) data plans -- not sure of going on contract will offer same flexibility in testing the waters w/ T-Mo (as we've long been Verizon-only, except my son has a Samsung S4 on my brother's T-Mo plan).

My HTC DNA contract is up soon and I definitely have an eye on a 64GB 6+. However, I will be waiting for thorough reviews of the iPhone/iOS8, Note 4 and anything else that might be available around the beginning of November. But absent of a Google Play Edition Note 4 becoming available, I think I will be heading back to iOS.

I'll be pre-ordering at 3:02 am on Friday morning. I have to decide on which size, though. The optical image stabilization on the 6 Plus is a big deal to me, as is the supposed better battery life (on paper). But, that is one BIG phone. I printed out the templates from Ars Technica just now to try and get an idea on how the Plus feels.

I stopped by a Verizon store last night and held a few phones close to the size of the Plus, and it kills me to say that I think it's too big for my hand. I'm not against two-hand use, but I had a hard time comfortably wrapping my hand around a Note 3 to just hold it, let alone use it with one hand.

I'll be up working tonight, so I'll be joining all of you early birds in hitting the pre-order queue at 2 AM (CDT).

On the poll thread I firmly stated my preference for the 6. I have smaller hands, so I have never been attracted to the phablet form factor. I've been very happy with my iPhone 5 the past 2 years; I can one-hand most key operations with ease.

That said, the lure of a full resolution HD screen, 400+ DPI, optical image stabilization, and longer battery life on the 6 Plus is quite strong. So I did like Jim, and printed out the template at Ars. I've even cut some cardboard pieces out and sandwiched everything together with tape to approximate the thickness of the 6 Plus. And I gotta say, as ridiculously big as it seems at first, I'm getting used to it quickly. I was surprised that it does seem to fit in the phone pockets of the gear bags I use; I was sure it would be too big for some of them. I can hold it very comfortably. The one drawback is that most (if not all) one-hand operations will be gone, but I'm thinking I can live with that - especially since one of my main one-handed ops is entering my numeric passcode, which will no longer be necessary with Touch ID.

Bottom line - I'm getting Phablet Phever,. And the only prescription is - More Pixels!!

Wow, I've really gone over to the dark side.

I am going to continue to say this over and over....

For those of you who thought Samsung made phones that were
too big and a 5.5" would be ridiculously large...

...You will be proved wrong.

For the first few minutes you hold the new iPhone 6 Plus in your
hand, you will be baffled by its larger footprint.

Within an hour, I promise, you will wonder why Apple didn't do this
sooner and why the hell you had to deal with a tinkertoy phone for
all these years prior.

It will not feel oversized. It does fit in your jeans pocket.

You will be reading websites like you never have before. If you have
an iPad, you'll be surprised how much more you use your iPhone Plus
instead of your iPad. It's that good.

As I predicted, those who proclaimed their opposition to 5+ inch screen sizes changed their minds when the Apple name was put on one. They're just now learning what Android owners have known for years. :P
