Got this Zavvi exclusive UK Steelbook yesterday (it sold out ages ago as it was limited to only 2000 copies worldwide so you will have to look on ebay if you want one now) just finished watching. Its a region free BD mastered in 4K as well but I only watched in 1080 upscaled to 2560x1080 on a high end PC (21:9 aspect ratio monitor which is 2.35.1). The only interesting new extra is a recent 2014 16 min long interview with Ivan Reitman & Dan Ackroyd where they share a little info on GB2 as well as talking vaguely about the upcoming GB3 near the very end ;)

PQ on GB2 is very good Sony did a great job here. I did not spot a single blemish. No dirt, no hair, no scratches, no tears & they kept the grain intact its there for the entire movie the studio logo at the start has the most then it settles into a light grain which is always there it looks like film. Whatever digital tools Sony used to repair & create this 4K transfer have produced a terrific looking BD :D I know the movie is not quite as good as GB1 but its still watchable & has a lot of subtle comedy :)

Audio is DTS-HD-MA with several different languages & a lot of subtitles as well as Ultraviolet Digital HD. If your a fan then this is well worth buying. I think its now being sold as a twin pack with GB1 globally.

Here are some screen captures taken directly from the BD. Just want to add these jpegs are compressed 10 times by HTF so imagine how good they will look on your own system!!

Is this transfer the same as the new US? I've ordered the new double issue Ghostbusters 1 and 2 and I'm presuming this will be the same. I hope so .... your screen caps look very promising...

Must be the same as its a region free release AFAIK only this steelbook edition is part 2 on its own everywhere else including UK gets 1 + 2 together (out tomorrow) both 4K transfers. I would be amazed if the transfer was any different as Sony are one of the best studios with catalog releases (when they release any that is!).

I just wish Sony could handle all future catalog releases for all the studios as they own Bluray surely they could offer to do that at some time. If Sony can make GB2 look this good there are some talented people controlling the digital tools & making the decisions on how to master for BD :D
