Denon AVR-S500BT vs. Pioneer VSX-824-K (1 Viewer)

Hi guys! I am new to the home theater world and am looking to purchase my first home theater for my college suite. I am currently looking at the Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 speaker set for my first set. I have done a ton of research and have seen that many people tend to choose Denon over Pioneer. I am wondering if you guys think I should purchase the Denon AVR-S500BT or Pioneer VSX-824-K for my receiver. Being new I am not familiar with the features or flexibilities of the receivers and am looking for some input. Thank you!

If you are new...buy an Onkyo.

May I ask why? From what I've been reading they run hot.

So. Don't put anything on it, or stuff it in a cabinet.There is a thread here about a guy with 3 dying Sony.Sure enough, he was suffocating them to death.Onkyo can be set up with music and networking...without touching the manual. Try that with a Denon.
