Some of the stunt casting might be interesting this time: John Rocker, the "controversial" former MLB pitcher could cause some conflict if who he is comes out.

Also, as I've posted elsewhere,

I kind of like cross casting.

Some of the time.

But, I'd almost rather see Hantz, Junior than these obnoxious twins.

I've loathed them and their "Look at us, we're TWINS!!!" antics since the first time I saw them,

In fact, I tuned out of Amazing Race both times they were on, at least, until they were gone.

Oh, well, at least it's not Colton.

Although I'm sure we'll see him when they memorialize Caleb, may he rest in peace.

If they ever bring Colton back, I'm done. Not a chance I'd watch a single episode if he were ever allowed back. (Oh I don't feel well, I broke a nail and can't go on, please evacuate me, can I possibly be more of a wuss? But be sure to give me another try. Ugh....)

As for stunt casting, John Rocker is probably one of their worst decisions. Never even heard of him until now, but from what I've read, very doubtful he'll last long. Maybe if nobody recognizes him he can play a loon like "Coach" for a while and keep his opinions and true personality under wraps, but he'll probably be one of the early vote-offs.

Of course, unlike Big Brother, isn't this already filmed, done and over, except for the ultimate "live" winner? Just mega non-disclosure agreements so the public won't know, but kind of like watching a football game on the DVR, it has already been decided.

None of those guys seem remotely as obnoxious as the Amazing Race alums :(Fingers crossed for a good season, BvW didn't really do it for me last time, hope fresh cast helps.

He's essentially quit TWICE. I can't imagine they would ever bring him back again.

So, they probably will.

I doubt it. By now Probst has a lot of sway in these decisions and he can't stand quitters. I'm sure Colton is now in the persona non grata file, along with Johnny Fairplay.

I REALLY can't take much of the "Twinnies". I hope they are far more tolerable as separates.

Only one to deal with now. One won't seem so bad. I find it surprising she wasn't sent to exile island. It appears it will be used differently this year.

Much better rules for BvW tho. I liked the way they used exile island in the beginning (one per tribe) but did NOT use exile for those voted off. I'm worried it will come back, they obviously spent some dough building it up...

I don't watch the show, but it will be interesting to see how non-watchers of Amazing Race will feel about the Twinnies, and whether it will drive them just as crazy!

In the promotional run-up to this season, Probst and company were going on about how the first time they did BvW was "so compelling" and "added so much depth to the game."

No it didn't.

The ads on TV were full of soundbites like, "you vote off my brother, you better watch out!" "If I have to vote out my mother, I will, in order to win this game."

It creates fake drama in an already fine game. Having the loved ones pair off against each other is an artifice created by the game makers...and then spinning the outcome that one needs to win in order to "prove their place in their tribe" while sending their loved one to Exile Island is totally yawn-inducing for me. It's as if that entire first challenge was created just so we could see the firefighter cry in his production session later. Otherwise, it got his tribe flint and beans. Oh boy! Oh wait, the other tribe got flint for going to tribal council... So, big deal.

Just let them play Survivor. Please.

The game stands on its own. The new cast always brings with it a different game. It's compelling enough as it is.

The Twinnies, without each other, are quite tolerable. I had no problem with either sister
as I watched them interact in separate tribes. I wasn't exactly cheering at the person who
was voted out this week, so that should say much.

I am kind of liking this season. I don't remember the first "blood vs. water" season, but then
again, I kind of sat out from Survivor for a season or two.

I do like the hottie women this time out. That seems to be the big draw to this show, and
certainly Survivor did their part in providing attractive women who look great in next to nothing.

I like the cast. I already have picked my favorites. I do like Jeremy and Val. I know that I am
not particularly fond of John and Julie.

If I were going to pick someone to win right now? Jeremy all the way. I like him -- even if he
cries in the first episode.

Jeremy Rocks. John, not so much. I did a happy dance when she left. Next one out? Wes. Reminds me of the proverbial "Box o' Rocks".

I think Jeremy made a mistake in selecting the three-time divorcee as one of his confidants. I think she's going to turn on him.

They actually were quite decent alone. I was dreading seeing them come back, they drove everybody crazy on TAR. Almost kind of sad to see one go so soon. I thought Dale was history this time, but he lives to see a few more days. Interesting how Josh chose Baylor. Probably a good strategy for the "middle guy" to stay out of things and be neutral for a while.

This is shaping up to be a season I watch more out of habit than any genuine interest. The always deceptive promos suggest Rocker might start erupting, which will at least provide someone with an outsized personality who doesn't blend into their respective groups. But at the moment I don't see any player I want to get behind, or any eye candy to distract me from the lack of interesting activity. And I'm already tired of Jeff trying to create emotional moments ("How does it feel to be separated from your sister?" "How do you feel having to take on your own daughter?") This is Survivor, not Dr. Phil.

Sometimes it takes a while for the season to get going. But I agree....so far it is average Survivor material. I wonder if they are missing a stark raving lunatic this season, someone on the edge who will dump rice and say vile things about others...

That dovetails exactly with what I said above. The whole concept of "Blood vs. Water" is simply an artifice that does NOTHING to better the game of Survivor. It creates only a false drama which would go totally unnoticed without Jeff constantly trying to remind us of its existence through tortuous moments such as that.

My guess is that--to fill the cast with people who fit the requirements of "Blood vs. Water" (twinnies, anyone?)--the casting of good contestants probably suffered a bit for this season.
