I'm posting this in case it can be of help to anyone in need of replacement glasses.

I have a four-year-old Panasonic VT25 plasma. While I've greatly enjoyed the 3D I've viewed on it to date (no, it does NOT do well with DIAL M FOR MURDER, but it's been fine with most of the other features, both vintage and contemporary), the Panasonic active shutter glasses were a pain in the ass from the get go. They suffer from a clunky physical design, and the plastic frame is subject to stress and breakage near the center point (nose area).

I started with three pairs. A chip came out of one pair within the first month. Because it wasn't a complete break, I was able to super-glue it back to usability -- but after a couple of years that spot began to weaken and it's just barely hanging in there. The second pair to go didn't fare so well, breaking completely apart and exposing the wires in such a way that I doubt I can successfully repair it. The third is still solid, bless its little heart. But for those two to go so easily was infuriating, and this same breakage has apparently been a problem for many people. These were expensive glasses to begin with, at something around $100 per pair back when the model was current.

I began looking around. I guess not too many screens use IR for active shutter glasses, but I stumbled upon a discontinued replacement -- which supposedly began in that same original price range of $100 -- now selling on close-out for $17.58 per pair. I ordered a pair to try out. It not only performed exactly (to my eyes) the same as the Panasonics, but the construction is simpler and better, and I found them much easier to wear and to deal with overall. I immediately ordered another half dozen, both as backup and to accommodate friends. Each pair tested out just as perfectly as the first.

So, if you need 'em, get 'em while they last...

By the way, I made a false start posting this somewhere else, and am not really sure where it should be. Feel free to move it if necessary.

I received these the other day and unfortunately, did not work with my Panasonic. The main problem is the glasses I received are made for Mitsubishi. There is another Xpand available for a couple of dollars more for Panasonics more but apparently they are for older models (2011). The one I have is a VT50. I ended up buying the actual Panasonic glasses which were 20 dollars more than the XPand.

Oy! Sorry to hear that. I guess they changed things between the VT25 and VT50. But it sounds like your Panasonics are at least at a reasonable price point, as opposed to $100.

Xpand are highly rated, they have a website too and they also make glasses for the cinema, i use Panasonic 3D glasses, a later pair than the ones you didn't like, for my Samsung plasma, they are very good, i use a pair of Optoma ZF2100 RF ones for my projector.

Perhaps you didn't program them before use? Xpand glasses are made to work with several different models, but you have to follow the directions to put them into "Panasonic" mode.
I purchased the Xpand glasses several years ago because they were cheaper than the Panasonic brand. Worked very well. Of course I paid a lot more than $17 for them!

Rather than starting a new thread...

I'm looking for glasses for use with a Sony 3D TV (XBR 60LX900) for adults and kids. They are active and the Sony ones are discontinued and really uncomfortable. Any suggestions (it doesn't look like the ones linked to will work)?

The website said they were multi brand but the box I received said they were for Mitsubishi. The instructions were brief and did not mention a "Panasonic" mode. I suspect I was sent the wrong pair. In any event, for 20 bucks more I got a Panasonic pair so it wasn't as expensive as it was when they first came out.
