My Phillips SD DVD player just died and it's time to get a replacement. I've had all-region DVD players for quite a few years now. I figured I might as well get a regio-free blu-ray player this time. I have a ton of R2 PAL discs I've accumulated.I'm on a tight budget and I'm looking at buying one around $100-$150. Been researching, looking at Phillips and Sony players. I'm researching for the right player, and I've had suggestions for the Toshiba BDX5300 from Bombay Electronics.I do have a blu-ray player, which is my Playstation 3. I plan to eventually get a PS4, so this new player would be my secondary player. I've read about the firmware issues, (don't upgrade as it will eliminate the hack?) I don't care about streaming, as my PS3 and HDTV already do that.

Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks. :)

Orei M2.Two "bad" things...Every once in a while it freezes on shutdown, requiring it to be unplugged(just a quick unplug and plug it back in. Very well known issue). The remote should be in Fisher-Price colors.I have one, it works.Getting ready to buy my 2nd. Not as a replacement. Specifically the LG BP530.I "reviewed" the M2 and my experiences with Bombay. My M2 was bought open-box return...and was defective. Bombay replaced it with a NIB.

I should add.The M2 gets toted all over the house. The LG is for the 2nd house(weekend getaway). It is not the "primary" anywhere. All three rooms it is used in, there is a spare HDMI and I just hook it up. It never has handshake issues...and has never been connected to the net.

based on prior threads, I've been considering the Orei M2 as well. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere at this time, though.

Bombay typically only puts the M2 on Amazon. The M2 is there at the moment(but last I looked, Bombay wasn't a seller. Maybe they are currently out).
