Any confirmation that these blu-rays will use the newer transfers that have been available in the UK for a while? I'm not keen on buying the same old 20-year-old transfers the U.S. has always gotten, just slapped on blu-ray discs. The only reason I'm concerned is that Lionsgate used the older transfers on their recent Emma Peel set dvd release, which isn't a good sign.

Keep up with the witty and stylish crime fighting duo as they embark on new adventures when The Avengers: Season 5 arrives for the first time ever on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) November 11 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. This classic series follows theescapades of the eccentrically suave John Steed and the strong and sexy Emma Peel, two secret agents whose mission is to face the most mysterious and dangerous situations - although slightly peculiar. Starring Patrick MacNee (TV's "Night Man," Thunder in Paradise) and Diana Rigg (HBO's "Game of Thrones," The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries), the three-disc setfeatures all 25 episodes of Season 5, the first season in color, with never-before-seen artwork. The Avengers: Season 5 will be available for the affordable suggested retail price of $29.99.

John Steed (MacNee) works for British Intelligence, and the cases he finds are always a bit odd, just on the edge of science fiction. Steed is the ultimate in culture and grace as he saves the world each week, along with his female partner Emma Peel (Rigg). Faced with solving problems such as cyborg killers, a city built under a disused coal mine, a gang put together for adrenalin junkies and a killer who uses a concentrated cold virus to kill his victims by having them sneeze to death, there is never a dull moment at work for this delightful duo.

This was a slam dunk to order from Amazon for a Jackson. I'm not too thrilled with cramming all these on 3 discs but for original OAR, English subtitles (which DVDs didn't have), the inclusion of the S6 opener (the 25th episode) and the low price point, this is worth it to me.

Hopefully S4 and S6 follow soon. I haven't seen the New Avengers revival in many many years but will purchase if they come on BD.

I added it to my cart before, but now the dang price went up. I'll hold off until it's back down to $19.99 or thereabouts; and pray for 4, 6 and New Avengers to make it out.

Indeed. I noted the price went up as well. Glad I ordered right away!I guess this is an amazon strategy to bump it up after a week or so on pre orders.

My set shipped and should have arrived today, but they sent it USPS, so I won't get it until tomorrow (Wednesday) due to the Veterans Day post office closures. Oh well, I'm still due to receive Batman today, as that was sent UPS, so I can wait an extra day for Emma and John. LOL.
