Celebrate the 45th Anniversary of this memorable Disney classic -- digitally remastered and now on Blu-ray for the first time ever! College student Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell) turns from a slacker into the world's smartest human in the Disney comedy THE COMPUTER WORE TENNIS SHOES. The hilarity begins when Dexter repairs an old computer, a gift from the town's most successful businessman, A.J. Arno. One night, Dexter gets zapped and the computer's entire hard drive is transferred into his brain, including information about Arno's illegal gambling operation. As the hype over his instant genius grows, he becomes the center of a winner-takes-all tug-of-war between greedy college deans and dangerous gamblers. Programmed for hours of fun and laughter, THE COMPUTER WORE TENNIS SHOES is a must-have addition to your Disney library.

Wow! I'll take the first movie for sure. Seems like Disney is dipping its toes into the Warner Bros. Archive Blu-ray water. I encourage more! Maybe this is the way we'll see the release of second-tier Disney live-action films come to high def. Too bad it's limited to release through the Movie Club, although I can see that as a powerful means of recruiting new members.

Great to see them finally release some of their live action films and finally not in full screen. Although I think Apple Dumpling Gang was 1.75:1 on DVD. Good thing I plan on joining soon.

NOW I have a reason to really want to join.

My only issue is I currently own everything that I want from Disney, so I will have to wait a while and not buy some films until they show up as options while joining.

Thanks for the link, Darby! It says "Classroom Edition DVD" ... does that mean it's been edited or altered in any way?
Thomas:

The strange thing about this release is that the film itself has a listed runtime of 83 minutes, while the classroom edition DVD has a listed runtime of 90 minutes. Even stranger is that the classroom edition is missing the song and introductory section at the beginning of the film (the theme song playing with beautiful shots of the forest) that is present in the VHS version.

I do hope that both versions of The Parent Trap do NOT make it to a Disney Movie Club schedule.
They deserve normal wide release, which would mean they'd be open to ALL buyers, US and international.

I'm going to wait until they show up on the used market. It would be nice if The Apple Dumpling Gang kept its DVD features; The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes had none to lose to begin with.

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes is an odd choice for this release. I wish the Apple Dumpling had its sequel.

LOVE The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes.

Never saw The Apple Dumpling Gang.

Will probably order both from the movie club to fulfill my obligation.

I'm in full agreement with you regarding a normal wide release. That being said, the best chance of The Parent Trap movies getting a (proper) Blu release would be thru Disney Movie Club. I'll take em any way they come, within reasonable pricing ranges of course.

I see Anthony you are outside the U.S. and would probably need a little help getting a DMC release shipped to you. I'm not certain on what DMC's rules are on shipping overseas but if you need some help in this regard, I'm sure folks here would lend a hand in getting a DMC shipment to you. I'll volunteer to help but I might not be much help as I'm not home in Florida as much as I would like to be.

Wish I could buy both those movies for $15 and have it count at least
one purchase towards my commitment.

Hate buying movies through the club that don't count towards my obligations.

I know the feeling. Just completed my DMC obligation and not a moment too soon budget-wise. Of course now I have to budget in (down the road) funds for this purchase. I've already committed future funds to purchase some TT offerings, especially when The Blob 88 and Audrey Rose are released for pre-order.
At least DMC's prices are competitive with Wal-Mart but I wish DMC had a free shipping option like Amazon. You do save ordering thru DMC (if you do it right) but with the shipping, not by much. My last package option only saved about $3 over what I would have paid to Wal-Mart for the titles (Muppets Most Wanted Feature of the Month package with a couple Disney catalog titles (one Blu, one DVD) thrown in).

If they start releasing Blu-rays of their live product on a schedule, I will certainly join.

"Doing it right" entails taking advantage of their special deals to get free shipping. Sometimes free shipping is part of the regular deal, other times you have to buy the double feature selection-of-the-month to get free shipping. However you do it, you have to buy titles in bulk to get good deals. Buying a couple at a time won't save you anything.

Yeah, we can dream, can't we? I am sure this is a way for Disney to test the waters before taking a more serious plunge, so I hope there are many hundreds of club members who want these two titles. But it would be a decent venue in which to buy some of the films they don't think will sell as regular releases, such as THIRD MAN ON THE MOUNTAIN (if ever a DVD needed upgrading, it's that), IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS (although one would think Hayley Mills alone would guarantee a lot of units sold), SNOWBALL EXPRESS (a favorite Disney comedy of mine) and scores of others that desperately need anamorphic Blu-ray release. Fingers crossed.
