Not many shows open their season with the main character pinned down in a jeep as child soldiers gleefully rain fire down upon their pursuers. So I'll give the Blacklist that much. Also, Liz's hair looks so much better this season, like they finally ditched the wig.

Enjoyed the season premiere episode. It was fast moving, had some fun "Red moments" (the countdowns to the missiles arriving), and got the show back on track. More prep work would be needed for me to care more deeply about the ex-Mrs. Reddington being chopped up one piece at a time.

The finger-in-the-box thing has been done to death. I would have expected something different from this show. Why not an eye or an ear in the box, or a kidney?

Last season, they did a head in the box.

Last week, The Blacklist led all programs with DVR watching numbers. Also, NBC is preparing to move this series to Thursday nights in early 2015.

Some neat twists this week. A couple of genuine surprises I didn't see coming, and the action was certainly attention-getting.

I certainly understand the reason for NBC's moving the show, but Thursday night is already over-crowded with programs. If the Katherine Heigl show is a non-starter (and the early word has not been encouraging), I wonder if NBC would move it back to Monday in the spring? I'm guessing not.

My TV viewing week has been very "top heavy" this season. I'm finding Monday nights to be quite crowded and Thursdays to be rather anemic, so I personally welcome a move to Thursdays.

This show returns tonight after the Super Bowl. It's been so long since the last episode, I hope they put a refresher catch-up tidbit in front of the episode so I won't feel too lost... LOL!

One of the best executed post-Super Bowl episodes I've ever seen. It does what a good post-Super Bowl episode should do, which is reintroduce the core concept of the show and serve as a second pilot, without compromising the dramatic thrust of the season or feeling repetitive for existing viewers. The Joe Carnahan-directed episodes are always something special, and the casting of Ron Perlman and David Strathairn as the blacklister of the week and Alan Alda's replacement as the face of the syndicate respectively brought a bit of star power to the proceedings.

On top of all that, we got our first serious nudge toward why Red is so interested in Elizabeth Keen. And it looks like next week we'll get a much better understanding of what exactly went down in that fire.

I found the episode full of suspense and very enjoyable to watch, but boy, oh, boy,was that cliffhanger ever contrived.

Perhaps, but unlike most cliffhangers, we only have wait 96 hours to find out what happens.

A few years ago, if someone were to tell me that in the future, a highpoint of the television season would be James Spader strolling through a scene in slow motion, covered in blood and dirt, shooting criminals with a shotgun, well, I would have laughed.

Spader owns the role, and deserves every accolade he is getting.
