The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

So this Disney stuff is hurting my head this week.

It looks like BB wil have the best price on a majority of it. The only two I still have with Amazon are Bedknobs and Broomsticks and The Three Musketeers (Mike, here's the link from my preorder.

Thanks, Jason. Wow. Weird. No image for an Amazon pre-order. I looked and looked and couldn't find that title listed on Amazon.

And, $25.49?!? Ouch.

Welcome, Mike! Luckily I got in on this title way back when it was first posted. I did just cancel with Amazon cuz BB's price is (apparently) going to be lower.

The Unforgiven sounds like an interesting film - Audrey Hepburn in an action western with Burt Lancaster. Co-stars Audie Murphy and Lillian Gish.

I don't remember that much action, but the cast is definitely star packed.

Does it have action all the way through the film? No, but it has enough action at the end to call it a fine western.

Thanks for linking the reviews to all those Disney releases, Mike. It took me all week to get them done. I'm waiting for the Twilight Time releases, and I asked for the Kinos, too, but it doesn't like we're going to get them for review.

Looking forward to Out of the Past.

So is Amazon starting to get in the don't list prices on Disney titles? Odd that the Muppets is not available to prebuy. Hope this doesn't turn into a situation like the other studios and some book publishers.

Thanks for the Roundup. This week makes me wonder why Disney releases so many things at the same time instead of releasing fewer titles on a more frequent basis; do they honestly expect people who would be interested in all of the titles to buy them all at the same time? I don't have money for that. That being said, I'll end up with Hercules and Tarzan now and the rest at some point down the line.

Also, isn't it interesting that the Amazon/Disney dispute is affecting some titles but not others? We can't preorder Muppets (or Captain America), but the catalog titles are fine? I'm not complaining, but it's odd.

As usual, I'll just go elsewhere for the titles Amazon does not offer.

I would also like to add that LOCKE is one of the most unique and exciting films I have seen in the last few years, and it is definitely worth a rental for anyone who hasn't already seen it. Tom Hardy deserves an Oscar nomination for it (which he won't get), but he's never been better. It sounds insane to watch a single person driving in their car for 80 minutes answering phone call after phone call, but it is absolutely riveting because the writing is so sharp and Hardy is so exceptional delivering it. I can't wait to get this one on Tuesday.

If your patient, then these titles will be available from Amazon on Tuesday and usually with the lowest price matched from BB or Target.

That's what makes me laugh about the whole thing. I imagine people at Disney sitting there saying "Ohhh, Amazon is waiting to sell our movies until the day they come out. I'm soooo scared." If Amazon wants to really do something, they shouldn't sell them at all and then Disney will get worried.

Yes, Amazon has been doing that with Disney titles.
It seems selective, though. The animated titles are there.

Might finally pick up The Lego Movie at BB for $14.99.

I guess I haven't been shopping for too many Disney releases lately. But, no worries here. Sometimes I have scorred a better deal on amazon in the past. But, many purchase over last year on DVD/Blu-Ray I have gotten and Target and occasionally Best Buy. Target redcard helps with 5% off. At least it takes care of about 2/3rd of the sales tax.

Egads, didn't realize there was so much Disney animation this week.

One thing I noticed on the Adventures of Ichabod & Mr Toad pricing:

The review and Amazon $33.99 price are for the Adventures of Ichabod & Mr Toad / Fun & Fancy Free combo. Best Buy's price for that is $22.99.

The $17.99 Best Buy price is for the standalone Adventures of Ichabod & Mr Toad; Amazon's price for that is currently $25.49.

Thanks for the RoundUp!
