Mr. and Mrs. North 4 DVD Collector’s Set will be released on August 19, 2014 by Synergy Entertainment - SRT $19.99) 52 episodes of this fondly-remembered 1950s TV series with Richard Denning and Barbara Britton solving crimes.
Does anybody know something about that company and if so what's the recording quality of their products? Thanks

http://synergyent.com Synergy Entertainment has been around awhile as a music and PD DVD publisher. One of the Synergy executives has posted here at the HTF in the past. Synergy takes out full page ads in CLASSIC IMAGES for their products. I don't know about the quality. I really like Barbara Britton. So getting 52 episodes,(of 57?), of MR & MRS NORTH in one spot for probably $12.00 online is an attractive option, even if they are crammed onto 4 Discs.Recently, I was trying to figure out how many episodes of Mr & Mrs North I already have from the Alpha, Critic's Choice, and Mill Creek releases. And Alpha is still releasing their 4 episode discs.I assume the 52 episodes on the Synergy set are the same ones that have been out before. But it still would be a good idea to keep an eye on Alpha for the missing five episodes.

Synergy tends to put out obscure public domain type stuff. I wouldn't expect great quality, but who knows.

Wow, this is great, I love this show. I have about a dozen or two of them in a compilation. It would be neat to have so many of them together.

Synergy is a public domain-type company. Their titles are available as DVD-R's on Amazon. I would expect these to be the same episodes released by Alpha, who have brought out 11 volumes of episodes through the years.

Hopefully they will be better quality than what ran on the Cozi network. Those were abysmal VHS tapes of 16mm prints.

That kind of sums up how the episodes have looked like on DVD as well.

I was just thinking about this show recently , and other PD shows like it : The Trouble With Father, Love That Bob, Range Rider etc . I actually posted on one of the forums hoping that a company would step up and release these shows in cohesive packages in decent quality. Let's hope the Synergy release fits the bill. By the way , VCI is releasing the complete Annie Oakley this fall.

I received this set and am watching the first disc. The case art makes no claims to any kind of restoration. The episodes are on 4 pressed DVDs, with an insert episode guide that skips episode numbers for the missing seven episodes. The episodes are public domain prints and vary in quality. So far they seem to be complete with some sponsor bumpers. I was surprised to see Colgate-Palmolive called, Colgate-Palmolive-Peat.The main draw of this release is having 50 episodes on one collection,(makes for easy marathoning), and the inexpensive price.I compared the episode guide with the episode guide at IMDB. The seven episodes missing from this Synergy release are: "Who Killed Frank Logan?""Forgotten Grave" --This episode is on Alpha Mr. and Mrs. North Vol.7"The Frightened Bride"--This episode is on Mr. and Mrs. North Critics Choice Vol.3"Murder in Short Pants""Blackout""Maternity: Third Floor"--This episode is on Alpha Mr. and Mrs. North Vol.9"Shock"Anyone spot the still missing four episodes on other PD DVD releases?

Are the episodes watchable or fuzzy and grainy?

I am still on Disc 1, and I think they are more than watchable so far. The prints are sharp and clear, but show some age damage lines and sometimes abrupt cuts at the commercial breaks, some are darkish, some very clean looking, as I said before, varied public domain prints. Content rules over perfect quality for me in public domain releases and I am enjoying Mr. and Mrs. North. This set is $14.61 shipped today at importcds.com. It's a fun show and worth it to get 50 epsiodes in a big collection. $14.61 would get you two or three 4-episode ALPHAS.
