Is there a blu ray player that will allow you to shut off the machine while watching and then return to the same spot you left off prior to your exit. Been a long time since i have looked at machines, and i know it was disc dependent at one time, but i hope things have change...please let me know. Thanks

The two players I have Sony BDP S-550 and Phillips BDP 7300 can remember and return to the last time before being shut down.

Since discs aren't writeable, there's no way that feature can be a disk-only feature - it would have to be player supported.
And if it's not part of the Bluray spec, then it's probably mostly player supported.
I admit I'm shoting from the hip, but if it's a disc feature I'd love to know how that works.

DVD players did this. It was a handy feature. I can't fathom why Blu-ray "upgrade" removed this feature.

WIth Blu-ray, when supported, it's something like, press the "Green" button to leave a bookmark. Then when you resume play, you use the green button (or something) to go back to the bookmark,
