Do you keep the DVD that came with your Blu-Ray? (1 Viewer)

I personally give it away to friends/fam.

Noone cares about movies, DVDs, Blurays from my family/friends.
Also, even if I don't want the DVD, I don't throw it away, because I want to have the release as I bought it, without anything taken out, or making a custom cover etc..

The thing I do is trying to find a release that doesn't have a DVD if that's possible.

Same here.

I keep them (and I don't know many people who even buys DVDs anymore) but I wish they'd save the plastic and not give them out at all.

Our cabin in Colorado doesn't have a BD player. It has an older EDTV plasma conected to a (good in its day) Yamaha Universal DVD player and an ancient Technics SA-DA10N, running a good set of speakers.

I take DVDs when I travel. Lots of hotels have HDMI equipped TVs and my laptops all have DVD and HDMI.

The cabin is too far from Denver(and anywhere else) for OTA. There is no cell service on the peak...or the 4 neighboring peaks.

Not getting Directv for the 6 weeks a year I spend there.

I keep them. I still have friends and family members that like to borrow movies but don't have Blu-ray, so they're ideal for loan outs. (They're also good when I want to watch something that someone else has asked to borrow.)

I try to get rid of them like a hot potato! I would never throw them out, but I have plenty of friends and family who are happy to have them.

The only ones I have to keep are the imports that come with dual discs. I know no one with multi-system players for PAL dvds...except me!

Always keep mine though I suspect it will never be viewed.

Keep them all. Wouldn't like to have a "triple play" set with two discs missing, I'm to OCD for that! Also DVDs tend to get played around the house on the televisions, whilst I save the BDs for the cinema room for bigger "impact".

I keep all discs in case I don't want the title anymore so, it sells better on eBay. I can also use the DVD on my portable DVD player that I take on trips.

If I got rid of it, the case would be half empty, and thus, id have to get a new case!

i still have a pretty large stack. i dont like giving away titles that my frkends or fam dont end up watching! there are so many tha only rent or stream they no longer watch physical discsor get new titles from redbox.re: those that keep it, sont you have a ton of bd players? i have about 10+ bd players including two laptops for when i travel i just bring the BD.

battlebeast i buy single disc for bd and reuse the dual disc case on 3disx titles that i slim down

Ahhhhh yes...the ole 'OOP Boogie'.

I've lost count how many times during the DVD era I bought an unusual title on a lark, and liked it well enough during that one viewing, but had no interest in seeing it again. So then 4 or 5 years later I might be searching for something else and discover that this title has since gone out of print and is commanding prices that raise both eyebrows! In fact, that happened with Condorman (Anchor Bay Widescreen), Pandaemonium, Ruckus (Widescreen), A Night in Heaven, The Woman in Black (Original British TV version), The Turning Point, Pola X, and the yes, even that silent 1916 version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. So when it came time to resell these in the aftermarket, I was grateful I'd had the foresight to not only keep them in pristine condition, but save all original packaging, including cover stickers and security seals.

And now in the Blu-ray era, my gut tells me that current collectors are even fussier about these off-the-shelf packaging details. Which is why nothing gets discarded or altered by me...ever.

I've given some away in the past, but kind of regretted it from a completionist perspective. I don't like that empty space in the packaging staring at me.

I try not to mess around with packaging as, should the occasion arise that I want to re-sell it, such things would decrease value.

I don't think I could do it!

I can't even bring myself to take the Skyfall Blu-ray disc from the standalone release and put it in the slot in the Bond 50 set that says "place reserved for Skyfall" - because then I'd have an empty "Skyfall" Blu-ray case. And the disc art from the standalone Skyfall release doesn't match the Bond 50 disc art.

Yeah, I'm definitely too OCD to break up existing packages.

I keep the DVD for back-up. In the case of RISE THE TITANIC I brought the bluray knowing it was (region A locked) but didn't mind that. The DVD was region 1, so I can play that in the Pioneer multi-region in Dolby 5.1 which sounded a bit odd? Well least it didn't cost too much on Amazon Forest.
