I enjoy both BACHELOR IN PARADISE and THE MOUSE THAT ROARED, but find they definitely do not stand up well against Arnold's finest Universal Sci-Fi films such as THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN, TARANTULA, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, etc. I suppose I have a slight preference for good science-fiction over good comedy, but I really feel Arnold's forte was SF. Anyone?

Another comedy directed by Jack Arnold, A GLOBAL AFFAIR (1964), was on TCM today. It was in b&w and starred Bob Hope as a computer expert who is saddled with a baby that was left in the United Nations. I watched the beginning of it before turning it off. I had the sense that it was a "comedy" in name only. And, no, I'm not a fan of the other comedies he directed.

Jack Arnold also directed episodes of "Gilligan's Island," which may tie in thematically to CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.

I agree with the OP, that Arnold"s best work is his sci-fi. i'm a big fan of Tarantula, CFTBL, and the ISM. Love to have the first and third in blu ray.
