Hello!!
Cliff Notes:
Wanting:
swivel wall mount for 46" Sony Bravia KDL-46NX800
Mount video sources to back of TV, or mount.
My wife and I have just purchased a new home, and I am looking for assistance in finding the proper wall mount for our television. At this time, we have a small entertainment cabinet that it sits on, but I want to move away from this, as my daughter has already broken off one of the doors last year. We have a 2.5 year old, and a 4 month old, so I want to get the TV up on the wall and out of reach.
46" Sony Bravia KDL-46NX800 (300 x 300 mm mounting pattern)
Now comes the odd part. I want a mount that is a full motion swivel mount, so that if we rearrange the room, it won't be an issue, and also so that it can be swiveled to be viewed from the front porch. The house has a very large front porch with ceiling fans, and the full width of the house. I am going to attach a VERY crude drawing of what the floor plan looks like. Having 2 young kids, as well as 7 nieces and nephews under the age of 6, I want to conceal the video sources behind the TV. These include an AT&T U-Verse set top box which I intend to get an RF remote for (not the DVR, I keep that in the network rack so that if the kids DO mess with the STB, it doesn't affect shows being recorded), a Roku 2 which already has an RF remote. The only thing left would be Blu Ray player, which currently is a PS4, but I am wanting to just get a low profile small Blu Ray player to use that rather than the console.
Floating shelves is something my wife as brought up a few times, but to ME, I think it is a bad idea, just ASKING for one of the kids to pull the shelf down, or pull something down by the wires. Also, I think a flaoting shelf just wouldn't look very nice. I think the clean look of JUST a TV on the wall will look very nice. I intend to install an electrical outlet behind the TV, as well as a wall plate for Ethernet and Coax, likely 3-5 Ethernet jacks, and 1-2 coax jacks. Currently have a network switch under the TV, but I would rather eliminate that with more Ethernet runs from the patch panel to the wall behind the TV. Currently the house isn't wired for Ethernet, but I wired my last home with 3 Ethernet drops and 1 coax drop to each room of the house.
I have thought about housing the video sources somewhere else, a closet for example, but I don't want to have run HDMI a long distance (not sure if there is an HDMI to Ethernet conversion, and how reliable it would be if there is.) Plus, if everything is able to be mounted behind the TV, ventilation shouldn't be a concern like it could be in an enclosed space.
Here is a photo of the room that the TV will be in, looking at the wall we intend to mount it on.
Here is the rough sketch showing a top-down view of the setup as planned, which is NOT at ALL to scale...
