With roughly 100 active releases, that's almost 1/4 of TT's entire catalogue. Its interesting how many titles which aren't horror/fantasy seem to be running down now...

OK, I already updated the main TT thread here but thought this deserved its own thread at least for now. On their FB page, Twilight Time indicated that they are looking to re-license some of their sold-out titles. This is some great news for those of us who missed out on some hot-sellers. Christine of course comes to mind first as does Fright Night.

Please note that TT has not yet indicated which sold-out titles are going to be relicensed but some candidates are listed in Captain Obvious' List of The Obvious.

When they started this, I don't know but maybe someone here might have know before I found out last night.

Anyway, here's a cut-n-paste from TT's Facebook page where they indicated this:

UPDATE:
ROLLERBALL and WILD AT HEART are now both SOLD OUT. Our thanks as always to those of you who supported these titles.

Kyrsten Brad Good Day TT, Brad here. I see what you mean about the whole world and its mother knowing everything about the home video business. You read the HTF forums so you have your finger to the pulse. All the same, I might agree with Derrek Wright in that 3000 for Christine was a little short. Judging by how fast it sold, you could probably sell another 6000 or so copies if the owner (Sony I think) would agree to another run. You're in the business to bring us titles on blu that we normally wouldn't get and you have to make a profit to stay in business. Don't pass up this opportunity if you can do a second run of "Christine".

Kyrsten Brad Brad here. I didn't know that. Great news, you guys rock. "Christine" no doubt will be at the top of that list. Better make it a 5000 copy press run.. And while you're at it, please see if Sony will cough up a license for Skatetown, U.S.A. and Thank God It's Friday. Oh and your blu-ray edition of "Christine" is now being hawked on Amazon for $118.49. Finally, do it soon before the Scandanavian blu-ray of "Christine" comes to market; beat them to the punch.

Well, that would be indeed great news.
I assume they would re-licence them when the 3 year window ends, right?
So, for Fright Night that would be in December.. (assuming again that they will re-licence this title)

It was pretty much inevitable that titles that did well would be relicensed to someone, TT or another vendor, or perhaps the studio itself.

Good news to hear this confirmation.

Another reason why complaints about the TT title have been misguided.

WOW, I just ordered both these titles last week. Glad I didn't put it off buying any later.

I missed out on Christine, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, and Mysterious Island. I hope they are chosen for re-issue.

The Christine title will no doubt be a sore spot for those that didn't get it in the first run and shelled out the $100+ from the scalpers. I can hear it now! :)

I don't blame those people for being mad but at the same time, I'm more glad that OOP titles will be available for a reasonable price again. Even better is that scalpers now have a disc that has taken a 70% dive in price.

I would think that for a hot selling title like " Christine ", TT could by mutual agreement consummate a new deal well before the 3 year window is up. Hopefully!

Well, this sounds like very exciting "breaking news" - but hardly. We have stated several times over the past year that we were first "considering" relicensing some titles, and then we were "in the process" of relicensing titles, and now that we "have" relicensed some of our sold out titles.

Here's a tease -- the first four of these will be out in 2015 -- most likely one each in Jan, March, August, and October -- however, we will leave you to speculate on which might be coming when.

Happy guessing!

I was just wondering, is there any chance at all you might pay for a new film scan of Zulu and re-release it.

If I was them I wouldn't as I don't think many that have the other two releases will do a third one, despite some presentation improvement.

Edit: That said, I would definitely buy an improved BD, but that's because I love this film so much and have the disposable income to buy a third BD of it.

Unfortunately not -- we would love to as it's one of our all-time favorite films, but the fact that there are already several versions including bootlegs flooding the marketplace, it isn't viable financially. The other problem is rights -- Paramount have it in some territories, Studio/Canal in others, and MGM/UA in the U.S. makes it problematic as to which entity would even sign-off on such a venture. However, never say never!

I liken this "breaking news" to the oft greenhorn reporter in Indianapolis That reports that Air Force One is at Grissom. (Yes, we once had a weekend reporter break in with news they were spotting AF1 on approach...the camera crew let him run with it...)

Ha! You logical elf, you...

BTW, if you want me to update that list here Robert rather than periodically reposting it, just leave it open for editing.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep my fingers crossed and if i win the Euro lottery i'll offer to pay for it all, still it'll be good to get Christine, i missed it first time around, this time i'm going to be more prepared when it comes out again next year.

This is good news but..... I've been following along all of this since the beginning and I never saw when TT
said they would relicense any sold out titles.

Was it posted in a long lost post on FB?
