I recently bought a karaoke mixer from

and when I sing into the mic using the mic that came with it or the better quality mic that I previously owned, it is very faint. It's not as loud as before when I had the mic plugged into the karaoke machine and connected to a tv monitor. Currently, I have my surround sound receiver hooked up to the karaoke mixer so I can play music from my PC and sing at the same time.
I have to put my mouth so close to the mic to hear myself well from the speakers and I'm wondering if it's b/c I have a cheap karaoke mixer and perhaps I should get a better one? Or maybe there is a setting on my receiver that can fix this. I already maxed out the volume on the karaoke mixer itself but my voice is still pretty faint.
If it's the mixer, does anyone have any recommendations on good quality ones that aren't too expensive? I don't need anything fancy.
